This is what I have to shoot video. So far I have only used the auto settings. I have it on a nice tripod and a external zoom switch. I use the the little view finder built in with a after market shade. I am sure shooting with a nice 10-11 inch monitor would be nicer. sometimes I use the viewfinder. At the Fort Smith FLI I shot handheld as I did not bring my tripod, which I regret. For the Austin event the tripod is coming, one way or another.

What I need to learn how to use well is my Nikon D3000. At this point I just shoot in sport mode with a 300mm lense for airplanes.

Here is a painful video Gyro edited from the Jersey FLI that I shot the footage for with my setup.

That camera in the link is way good. It will serve you well. I am shooing with a DSLR (5D MkIII http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/847545-REG/Canon_5260A002_EOS_5D_Mark_III.html ) so its kind of klugey for video work without a rig. I do have some great sticks with nice fluid head. I have a low boy with fluid head, and some nice sliders. I am set up to do video, it's just so much work to do it right. Now, if the event was in Vegas, I would of shot video mainly, but dragging 60K in gear just for fun to Utah wasn't really an option you know?

The saturated color is from my vision as a photographer. When you capture an image in camera, it still needs to be developed. Digital is no different than film. As a matter of fact latitude in digital is much less than film in many cases. Not to get to in depth with digital imagery, but the digital darkroom is much the same as the film days just much faster. The image isn't complete until it has been developed. :)
