Here are the latest pictures. All that is left to do is move the batteries around for balance and add the decals. Also have some of the Sullivan alum. hub wheels coming.

Smitty, very clean looking.

Did you order your decals yet? I thought I saw you were getting a radial engine and cockpit decal from Decal Dennis but I don't them as an offering on his website. How do you plan on getting the cockpit decal over the lower canopy framework? Mind telling us the cost of these decals from DD?

We are looking forward to your report on the maiden flight.

I haven't ordered the decals yet, still trying to figure out what I want. I want it to look nice but not gaudy[sp]. I don't see the radial on Dave's website either, but he posted a picture of it and it looked good, may just use the one from B&E since theirs is already done to size.
I was going to put the decals on the foam and then cut it up in pieces and install it in the canopy. Tseres has some good pictures of his build that show a floor in the canopy.
As far as the cost I am sure it will be 10 to 15 dollars, seems like that's the going rate for a decal.---Smitty

Here are a couple of shots of the plane with the decals I have put on so far. I think they turned out pretty good.---Smitty

Here is the last of the work on the outside, still need to build a instrument panel for the decal I got from B&E. But the outside is finished. Tomorrow I am going to get the engine fired up and set, then need to balance the plane mount the batteries and clean up the wiring to make it look neat. Hope you enjoy the pictures.---Smitty

Decals make a plane! Are you going to put a pilot in it? i have been watching your build since day 1, can't wait to read about how it flies.

Have you looked inside down to the tail? Are your pull-pull wires rubbing on the front of the exit holes? I read a post from treyes, I think, that had them rubbing and had to replace his servo arm to 3 inches with offset.

I am going to put a pilot and dashboard in the plane. About the wires I think they are rubbing a little but not to the point of opening the exit hole. I may have to deal with that problem. Going to start the engine up today and then work on the dashboard. I think I will try a Ken doll for the pilot, it might be the right size. I too am looking forward to see how she flies, just not going to rush finishing up.---Smitty

He even elongated the exit hole. Ken is 3.25 inches at the shoulders and TREYES Redaero RC pilot was 5.75 inches. Dang pilot busts are expensive. Keep the pictures and status updates coming.

I guess you are right about the Ken doll, he would get lost in that big canopy. May have to bite the bullet and pay for one of those high priced pilot bust. Thanks for following the thread, I am very pleased with the way it has turned out.
The only bad thing I have found about the plane is the placement of the wingbolts. They are a pain to put in, not a lot of room. I thought why in the world didn't they do something different. After really looking at the area I came up with they couldn't do anything different because the Sukhoi wing sits low on the fuselage. Think I will use some hex head bolts that way you can get a ratchet on them.---Smitty

You might to look into Secraft wing bolts - you can loctite their threaded piece into the wing then just have to spin on their nut. The nut has a rubber washer that should help it not loosen during flight, kinda like a sealing washer. By having the threaded piece stick into the fuselage you won't have to search for the tnut in the wing. The threaded piece also has a non-threaded shoulder that helps get the nut started. If you only slide the wing on a little bit you'll have plenty of room to get started.

From reading all the build threads on this nice looking plane it is the original design before PAU bought the company and the Sukhoi has not been reworked - I guess 3D'ing is king.

If you search eBay for rc airplane pilot 1/3 you'll find a visor-up jet pilot that might work. Redaero RC has a nice one but it is expensive and luckily out of stock for a 5+ years else I might have bought one. I wonder what all the IMAC guy and gals are doing? Shape ways has some 3D printed pilots but they are expensive too.. You'd think the ARF manufactuer's would have pilots and dashboards as options.
