Tech-aero IBEC question

Hitec also tried to pass the buck, in the end the IBEC's were not the A9 culprit. I have run the A9 since it came out and with Tech Aero IBEC's with no issues at all. That said I had a friend loose 2 100cc planes with the A9 and I was present for one of them. Neither plane had an ibec in it. The A9 issue was solved with a firmware update, but it is strange that not all A9's had the issue.

Thanks. I love my IBECs and never had an issue, I too suspect that JR was passing the buck.

My other buddy bought the IBEC and sent it back to Tech-Aero for evaluation so I am keen to see what he says.

Hey Aerosheldon, if you have a chance ask your buddy what firmware version he was running in his XG14...
I just updated my radio, it was about 9 revisions out from current (version 13 is most recent on the XG11's right now). Hopefully I didn't just update to a version that has this problem! I've only flown one gas plane two flights since the update. All was good on those flights, but two flights is hardly enough to tell.

My xg11 software version says 0002-0011. Does that mean version 11?

The incident was last fall so I don't think it is the latest one. I also don't think it was the IBEC but we will see.

yep. 13 is the latest. You don't get too much, xbus and the new 3 axis gyro support I think are the main things in the newer versions.

@Terryscustom DSM2 wasn't so much susceptible to outside interference as it was swamping from too many 2.4 systems in use (huge events like Nall and IRCHA). It's just as immune to ignition interference or metal rods rubbing together as any other 2.4 system.

Anyone heard of one of these bringing a plane down? A buddy of mine lost a plane and JR Americas/JR Japan say it was the IBEC. He sent them all in to JR and that is what they came up with. Passing the buck??

I have 4 of them and no issues, as have many others.

The issue is not when there isnt a problem with your IBEC or ignition but rather when there is an issue. Im not so sure it would have been an IBEC issue but a possible ignition coil issue. There is no way those small filters can filter out all frequencies of ignition noise when an ignition starts to fail. Remember the IBEC uses the same power and ground as the receiver so you start adding dirty power into a receiver it may not be able to handle that. I did have an ignition cause problems for one of my ignition kills. It was causing the ignition kill to shut down until I recycled the power. after much diag I replace the coil and the problems were gone. I did send the coil into DA and the plug caps were replaced and the ignition was good to go.

I wont say there may have been a radio issue because it is hard to really say but it could have been another issue also.

True, I have several DSM2 still in use....no issues but I don't get to take my planes to Nall with me

Been flying the Tech Aero (Syssa) IBEC for 6 years in JR DSM2. Never missed a beat week after week.
Several sessions after with my new XG14/DMSS all the same. These units are very reliable.
