Telemetry Usefullness

Stang i rigged up a plane with all the crap i could get in there i learned a few things

1- it wasn't near as fast as i thought it was
2- things seemed higher than they really were
3- after a few flights the only thing i cared to see was temp and battery

I really dont mess with it any more the only thing i really like is the battery voltage but not even enough to put it on the rest of my planes.
+1...Temperature is really all I'm concerned about...I was running way to hot and didn't know it until I added the cylinder sensor..my baffling wasn't adequate. Made some changes and got more airflow...Everything is cool now..

I like 'em "BIG"!

I use the temp and voltage also. Some planes I have changed the baffeling because of the telemetry info, and it is always nice to know voltage. I use spektrum.

I am using JR DMSS equipment and use the telemetry. I monitor engine temps that allowed me to get my baffling for effective. I also like the receiver battery voltage information. That is more of a cool FYI for me and was surprised on the amount of voltage drop during some of the maneuvers.

Damn I'm hungry
Once I do get temp telemetry up it will be the actual alert to let me know when to fly out or land.
Like the old saying ; "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

That's one of the features I really like about telemetry. I have never had it before so really don't know what to expect. But as my aircraft that I am now flying become more elaborate in setups, cost of components, and risk factors.... I feel the same way. An ounce of prevention.... Still not sold to the fact I "NEED" it, but it sure would be a nice cushion to feel safe with.

I use the FrSky telemetry in one of my planes...kind of an experiment. It's kinda nice knowing batt voltages, altitude, etc.

The FrSky stuff is priced pretty good, so I may install it in all the planes as time goes on.

I'm hooking up cylinder head temp and receiver voltage to my MX-2 (Futaba radio gear). I was wondering.... with today's GPS equipment, if the receiver looses transmitter signal, can you make an airplane "return to home" and make a circle over the airstrip? I know you can do it with some multi-rotor setups, some can even land at your feet. I wouldn't want it to attempt a landing, but it would be nice to circle over me, trying to re-connect.

On second thought... I guess it would need a gyro also to accomplish that.
