Well crap. Now I REALLY want one.

Hopefully the V2 will have the minor issues sorted out and maybe a couple improvements. Its funny, I fly both helis and planes and over the past 10-12 years or so I have become a landing addict. I love autos and touch and gos and have been in search of an airframe that really is a blast to land without a lot of difficulty, (I also enjoy challengingly planes to land for different reasons) and so far the Bigfoot is answering that call. I also have the Parkzone red and white super cub and it's also a blast for the same reasons and I imagine the Carbon Z is quite similar.

Does the Robart gear add much weight?

The Robart gear is actually lighter than the thick music wire gear that came with the plane. I screwed it right into the plastic plate on the bottom of the plane. If you want a plane that lands like a dream, the RedwingRC Yak 55 is it. Of all of my planes, (I currently have 10) the YAK is hands down the easiest to land. Even in a crosswind. Carry a touch of power on final, chop it at the threshold and let it settle. No bounce, no weathervane, it doesn't even lift a wing, just straight as an arrow. I can only hope my Edge 540 lands as nicely. The plane that gives me the most fits on landing, the F4U Corsair at full flaps. It just doesn't play nice.

That's funny, because I have been really eying that Yak. Yet more for just 3d flying. However I'm a bit swamped with building an AJ 73" Laser and an EF 74 Laser. I do some touch and gos with my 3d planes, but I enjoy them more with scale planes. Its great to hear about that Yak though, well sort of as you are now making me want one!

You guys are really making me want to fix my Bigfoot. I tip stalled it on the maiden flight in high winds, and I need to fix the tail surfaces and a gash in the leading edge of one wing. Just haven't found time to do the repairs yet, but it is on my list for this month.

You will love it. For me its different than my typical 3d planes where you begin to feel fairly comfortable after just a handful of flights since overall 3d built planes fly somewhat similar. With the Bigfoot, I recommend taking it up nice and high and do a bunch of stalling so that you get used to the challenging side of the plane. Then you will feel more and more comfortable doing tumbles, snaps, and harrier type flying. I also strongly recommend the Kavan wheels over the Dubro Balloons. The dubros are exactly 1lb heavier and were very noticeable to me.

Sorry to hear about your maiden. I have tip stalled and completely destroyed two very nice cubs (50cc) and a Beaver all on their maiden flights because I love to fly low and slow. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson and am now very cautious even with the Bigfoot.

Good news for me, the 30cc RW Yak 55M is out of stock in the color I want! Just saved $400+. Might have to email them and find out when they may get more though. I'm curious if the VVRC 40 twin would fit.

Looks like you will have to go with the 50cc Yak then. (and sell me the VVRC twin for my Decathlon)

Ha, deal.....but, I don't even have a VVRC yet! I keep going back and forth in my head about a 50cc which I've had in the past. I'm afraid if I get one my 3-35cc's will be left out and not used as much, so I think I will just stick with the more economical 35cc size birds for now.

I might be seeing a pattern - tell me what you think.

My repair efforts are seldom crash damage, but I seem to be going through worn out hinges on mutiple airframes.

Perhaps I am beating them up?

Foam hinges I understand, but some are balsa/carbon fiber construction.

My lovely wife suggests I crash more ( then laughs)

Sounds to me like you just might be flying too much! Only fix I can think of is more airframes to help spread the abuse!
