What a great day of flying yesterday, not that it was a perfect day, wind was blowing 15 to 20mph most of the day. My buddy that went with me also brought his 10 year old grandson and this was his first exposure to R/C airplanes. I brought way too many airplanes as usual but one of the planes I brought was an Apprentice with SAFE technology. So after battling the wind with one of my EF planes, the grandson was just sitting there starting to look bored. I got the Apprentice out and asked him if he would like to give it a whirl, of course he said yes! The wind was blowing so hard I had to walk the airplane out to the runway and point it into the wind and run back and take off before it got blown over. That plane handled the wind perfectly!! I got him to fly 4 times yesterday, on the last flight the wind laid down to the point it was down right pleasant, he was flying the thing great!! Near the end of the flight he asked me if he could land it. On his second attempt he brought that little Apprentice down and greased the landing! Everyone who was watching, including the guys flying turbines, were applauding him!! I will never forget the huge grin on his face!! That little Apprentice is an amazing airplane to train people on. It is so stable in the air even blowing as hard as it was earlier in the day. That was the best flight of the day!!
