On Discovery right now: Flying and crashing a full scale 727 on what looks like a Futaba 8FG. Looks cool...

What else would they use to crash a plane.....of course it was a Futaba.....:p :p :p :D :D :D

Ah great now Steve will probably blame the crash on the Futaba radio. :D

Hey.....the truth is the truth!!!!!! :D D :D

Hey guys I just bought a 35 watt soldering pen for $18. Did I get ripped off? There was a 100W one but I didn't have $70 lol.

Nah, I think that's ok. Did you check at Radio Shack or Walmart? They sell these things as well.
You will need a higher wattage one to solder larger wires (e.g. on 6S batteries, etc). but for the small stuff that should be ok.

It's really the thickness of the wire that starts to be an issue, not so much the number of cells. You should be ok up to maybe 12AWG with the 35W iron. As for safety tips ; Don't do it on your mom's best table;) Also try not to breath in the fumes, it's nasty stuff.

I agree - it's the thickness of the wires...I was trying to keep it simple...usually the cell count and the wire thickness go hand in hand.

Best to use a scrap piece of wood or something as a work platform for soldering, else you will melt your plastic table.
