The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

I just started switching out to Savox on a 30cc plane. Let's just say that I'm done with cheap servos. If you go to GiantScaleNews and look up bemeson, he has very good prices. I am looking at the sv 1270 for a 78" EF Extra 300. The torque is way more than required but they only weigh 56g and cost is marginally more than what he recommended for that plane.

Aeroplayin has done a lot of research on 12S power systems on the 70-78" planes and is a wealth of information. I fly my 30cc on a 6S motrolfly 4330 with 2 3700mah packs in parallel. I picked 12S for my next plane to use the same packs in series to eliminate the need for more batteries. I am considering picking up the 206 or 216 4330 and converting my current plane and re winding my current motor.

Thanks for taking time to post this information. I sent bemeson a PM to see what he is offering. I try to support Local as well as Sponsors, but for me it is always about Price first. Don't get me wrong product support is important, but price drives my business.

I will take another look at Savox. I love the SC1258TG's I use in my camera gimbal and if I had the cash I would just buy those again.

The Extra is all mocked up. It is pretty big compared to my 62' MXS. I took it out in the front yard and made some pics.

Compared to the MXS the Extra dwarfs it. The image does show it because the MSX is up front, and I an using a wide angle lens thus distorting the wing a little. . Needless to say, I am happy to add both of these planes to my Hangar.

Oh one more piece of information is, this plane wights 5.4 lbs with no electrics. So I hope the battery's, servos, prop, spinner, wiring, ect.. weighs less than 4.6 pounds. I do know the use of 5000mah packs and keeping the weight to 11lbs isn't going to happen. The motor is 500 grams (1.1 lbs) a TP 5000mah 6S pack is 804 grams (1.7lbs) just those three items are 4.4 lbs.

Also I made a template for the SFG's. I was going to stick build them, but hardwood ply might be strong enough.

Got my motors today, this is the one for the Extra. I need to figure the motor mount out. In my Showtime 90. I use this sliding metal bracket, its kind of heavy, I was thinking of doing some sort of stand off in the Extra. What is the strongest light weight way to mount the motor?
