Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Got a flight in on the 60” extra.
Brrr it’s cold out today, 38-42F
Re set the needles on the laser, the high end hasn’t left the factory setting much, low end needed to be leaned out a bunch. Idle doesn’t seem too smooth, could be because I found an engine mount bolt dancing inside the fuse... but overall engine runs good.
If I let it sit for a while (10mins??) the plane idles but takes a bit to warm up before it will let me go to WOT, I’ve heard this is normal, but engine was still warm. Any thoughts??

I wish I could say this was the first time I have done it but its not.

We have all done it at some time. But the one time my plane was in a tree and it way up there we could not reach with nothing so we ended up throwing ropes up the tree with weights tied to the rope. Eventually we got the rope around the right branch so we pulled and shook the tree and eventually it can down but the sad part was it was all in one piece up in the tree but when it can down we where so busy pulling on the rope we could not get to the plane in time to catch it and we smashed it anyway, not a good out come.

I wish I could say this was the first time I have done it but its not.

You still get innovation points for using pvc pipe to retrieve your glider! I’ve always used @Snoopy1 ‘s method and it never ended well.

To get into trees at my last club you would have to be a VERY long way from the field, but at the club I fly at now the trees are right behind you. Needless to say there are guys in the trees now and then. Thankfully I haven't been in one. I did have a really spectacular crash with a Blade 130 helicopter one day when I was there by myself. I hit the runway flying inverted then managed to ricochet off of a roll around airplane starting stand then a workbench and a trash can and ended up underneath a seat swing hanging from one of the trees.

It was a shame no one was there to see it but me.

But I have had my own "favorite" encounters with trees as well.....Once I had a Futaba Acrostar 60. Once there was a tree with a split trunk.

There was a man from Nan-tucket.....Took his plane home in a bucket.....A tree to despise to a planes demise caused him to say: fill in blank here ____ __ .
