View attachment 85464 PView attachment 85463 It rained to day but in the later part of the day it stopped for while. So finished mounting the DA85 on the stand and got it running. It took a while to get the fuel up to the carb but once the fuel hit the carb it ran like a top. Man that is one mean engine. Ran the 150 on the stand it was easy and smooth. But this 85 is loud and powerful. And the acceleration is just crazy. Shut it down after a few minutes, and will run it again tomorrow and get the needles set up close and just get a little familiar with the engine. Will run it for 10 to 15 minutes and it should be ready for the plane.
The DA 85 makes very good power. I've flown a 107" Pilot Extra 330SC with a DA 85 and an RE3 tuned pipe. It handled that airplane with no problem.

Saturday was awesome, weather in the mid 90's, slight breeze, water was cool. Sunday was a total blowout with 15mph+ wind

Where is that it is beautiful. Man you could do some float flying there.

That is Squaw Lake Campground in Arizona. Beautiful place to be, would definitely make a nice environment for float flying but when the winds come up it get crazy :oblong:

This is my Redwing profile after picking up pieces. Last Thursday I bought a RCexcel optic ignition switch and put in my plane. Friday my plane all of a sudden has a mind of its own. So I lost a nice plane, ignition pack, carb and throttle servo. Yesterday I sent my radio system to Horizon Hobbyservices. Better off getting it checked, not want to chance losing another plane especially my giant scale.

Just a question the plane flew just fine before you installed the RCexcel switch. The first flight with the switch you lost your plane do I have the sequence correct. Or do you believe some thing else happened. Interested in your thoughts. Seen some interesting things happen with these switches but nothing confirmed.
