When AKNick takes care of bi-ness, he "REALLY" takes care of bi-ness. The new DLE 35RA arrived today in perfect condition. Included in the box was a brand new Bowman ring for said little jewel. Thanks VVRC, you guys still top shelf. I broke out the little 35 and removed the cylinder and replaced the ring. Wow is all I can say. When I bought my first DLE 55 many, many years ago...it was nice and it ran like a swiss watch. But not near as polished and pretty as the new DLE's are of these days. I love, love...LOVE my "dubs", but I have no shame in owning a DLE of today's quality. I am not about to trade of the beast motors, but hey... a little DLE now and then can't hurt anyone right? They run so dang good...

Anyway, literally five minutes after breaking the engine open to replace the ring, I was buttoning it back up and proceeding to introduce it to its new home. The Phoenix P51 Strega. Quite literally for the size and the expected weight, this plane should fly nicely on a 20cc engine. In fact the manual shows installation of the 20cc DLE engine. Oh but wait, next page shows step by step to upgrade the power plant to a 30cc. Yes, I said 30cc. Sooo why are we going up to the DLE 35RA? Ummm, because I can. LOL Besides, I am looking for some adrenaline here with this one. As if the H9 20cc Mustang isn't spooky enough. LOL.

The 35RA fits quite nicely inside the cowl of the Strega. With ample room on all sides and the cowl will allow for great airflow over the engine. I may have to open a small relief hole in the bottom of the cowl to keep the top fins on the cylinder from rubbing a hole in it...but hey, better than a huge gaping hole. The sparky sparky may require a little bit of a hole also...but not much.

Anyway, engine is mounted and ready for the setting of the cowl. I will do that tomorrow. I have the fuel tank, prop and a few other items ordered. Will have to wait until after Christmas to get the servos. I also want to order the Eflite electric retracts for this too. I am looking for an early spring maiden on this little animal. Not that I don't have any projects for this winter. So I am sure I will get back to it soon. Between the TF P40 and the Behemoth Stang…. I am going to be building my days away. Oh how I am loving this winter build season.

Sorry the photos are not in perfect order...but I am sure you can all get the idea, right?

Stay building my friends....
Looks like a nice setup. And lets face it a Mustang can never have to much power.

Hey Stang here is a smaller Strega that will give a guy an adrenaline rush flying between 160 and 180 mph.

I used to have the smaller orange pheonix Strega (V1), no retracts, OS .46AX - It had a fast stall speed (no flaps) and was very fun to fly in the air. It could do a lomcovak at high speeds that was really fun to do. Almost topple end over end! It was flying fast all the time, I remember changing the prop pitch to crank the rpms and forgot to land sooner. I chopped a couple minutes off the flight time. Sucked the fuel down FAST. I had fun with that plane. Changed ownerships five times, no one else ever flew it - too scared of the high stall speed. No idea what ever happened to it.

Took and cut a hole in the E-Flite Cherokee Canopy to mount my Go Pro inside. seen some one else had done this to shoot video's from inside the planes cockpit View attachment 112600

I’ve always liked the view from the tail or wingtip. Gives a good perspective and doesn’t obscure the image with the prop wash. Maybe the coolest thing I’ve seen is a 360 view from the inside of a cub.

The Q 40 in the photo is an all composite pylon racer. At over a 1,000.00 ready to fly the engine is a Nelson 40 no throttle when it comes up on the pipe the engine is turning 28,000 rpm give our take 500 the engine kill consists of a straw with a wire that has a loop in which the fuel feed line runs through. wire on the other end connected to a mini servo. When the throttle stick is pulled to low it pinches off the fuel line to kill the engine then land
