I like 'em "BIG"!
I started working on the cowl today... still no mufflers yet though. So that part will have to wait. But I cut a preliminary air exit hole and made the baffles.

I've got two used canister mufflers that would be perfect for that engine. I would let them go for a $fity dollar bill and shipping if you would like them.

I found a ten pack on amazon for $3.00!!! Type in "ZAMA fuel filter" and it pops up in a few styles. ZAMA is owned by STIHL and was used in Homelite products as well I found out. There are a lot of china knock offs... everywhere. STIHL is made in the USA.

ZF-1 is for 1/8" line there is an original with one barb, newer version with two barbs I believe. designed for 30cc and under I think.
ZF-2 is for 3/16" line
ZF-3 is for 1/8" line and 30cc and larger
ZF-4 is for 3/16" line 30cc and Larger
ZF-4 is for 1/4" line 30cc and Larger

I am going to get some ZF-1's and ZF-3's and compare. That was some fun research!

Okay so check it out. The extreme flight flowmaster clunk inlet hole was 50% plugged, it wasn't cleaned up very well. Also I found out that the cap screwed off easily... not very comforting. The second flowmaster clunk wasn't plugged up. I did notice more resistance with the plugged one, however when put all back together there is still at least twice as much resistance in comparison to the Zama or Chinese knock offs. The knock offs were 8/$10 on amazon under the seller eBoot, the felt/metel insert moves around inside the plastic cage a little bit, whereas the Zama is pretty solid. There is no difference between the smaller and larger ZF 1/3 style when it comes to resistance, but the clunk is obviously larger and a heavier clunk. I haven't dissected the zama ones but I assume they are the same as the Chinese knock offs inside. It's neat that there is a little screen filter in those, whereas the flowmaster do not. I'd personally say stay away from the flowmaster clunks and buy the Zama when looking for a felt style clunk.

Thanks for the research / discovery. I tried a felt clunk for the first time but it did not last long enough for me to make a Ya or Na :(.

Next plane I do I will give those "neat ones" a try!

I was surprised to see a screen in there. No way to clean it though. People seem to think felt will end up in the carb, but no so much when there is a screen as well. But less than five bucks for a true KAMA filter, a guy can replace it every few years.

Today, I came home to a beautiful box from FedEx that had the new correct mufflers :). So today, I installed those and cut the holes in the cowl. I also moved the ignition to the bottom side of the plate to put it inside the fuselage instead of setting on top of the motor box. That really does make it look much cleaner.

The dirty one is the one that was in the fortitude 16oz tank.
Notice it has only one barb and the inside diameter is larger. I measured it and it's 1/8" ID.... wouldn't you think that the ones designed for 1/8" fuel line should have an 1/8" ID... or am I trippin?
Do a search for the original zama zf1 and you can find the single barb version... so ya. My quest isn't done yet!! Bwa ha ha ha

Fortitude same dimensions as the ZF1 other than the single barb and larger ID

FT .188" shank, .128" ID, .219 OD w/single barb, OAL 1.207" OAW .522"

ZF-1 .131" shank, .092"ID, .168" OD w/double barb, OAL 1.219", OAW .523"

The one sitting closest to the big one is identical to the ones I use. No issues to date.
