Got the maiden done on the new to me Focus pattern plane. Very impressive how they fly. Sure don’t like to do a hammer head very easy though. LOL.
Fourth flight and the engine is sounding like it is detonating. Horrible vibration. Figured out the wing tube had come loose from the false rib. Further, the wing tube had been glued into the wing w/CA glue and had eaten most of the foam up. Without a whole bunch of effort I had the wing tube out. Got her jigged back up and with a liberal amount of poly glue, back in business. Re-assemble, thinking I get to go fly, and notice the left wing is also loose, though not as bad. Wing tube was a wee bit too long for the sleeves also. Both plugs were pushed out. More surgery and some time later, the other wing tube glued back to false rib. Not without finding there was a hole in the wing tube and my epoxy ran down the tube.
Little sand paper on an aluminum tube and she is ready to go again! See
@49dimes, we all have our moments!
