Have to agree with @acerc any silicone on metal does not have a strong bond it is flexible I will give you that but most times if you can get a hold of it it will peel off. @AKNick agree if you get it to the treads it is pretty good. But there are flex typ loctite products that will do a much better job in the threads.

Cannot show much, worked on the back bone for the fuselage all day. Trying to get it straight, square and on centreline to the fuselage. It’s locked in place now all that needs to be done is build the removable part and cut it out and add a bunch more stiffeners.

Have strange question. Has anyone put a carbon fibre gear leg in a oven and heated it so that you can bend it or reshape the end. If have how hot did you take the oven up to.

Got the top half and a little down the sides sheeted in with 3/16 balsa and around the bottom at the spinner. This should look a lot better than just an engine hanging out front. Took a little patience to do every piece had an angel on all four sides to sit into place but it is done, does not look to bad even if I say so my self.

Found out you can not reshape carbon gear legs. You can get hot enough to move the epoxy around but the carbon will not budge. As you can see from the photo made a nice bend and when it cooled brown it held its shape but the carbon delaminates. I guess if you wanted to make a slight radius that is possible but no sharp bends

The wood work is done now it is now just installed all the equipment and and see how the balance is and then cover the plane. So I still need a bunch of small things and two rolls of covering and one good rudder servo. If is going to be one of those trips to the hobby store and walk out with a small brown bag of goodies that cost 300 to 400 bucks and really nothing to show for, it just disappears into the plane. And also ordered a some small parts. So now I am in a holding pattern for all the parts so that it can be installed to check the balance.
