I primed the spots on my cowl and cuff last night before I went home. This afternoon I sanded the primer with 400 grit wet, and then used a wet gray scotchbrite pad and some sanding solution to scuff up everything else for the clear to stick. Sanding solution is kind of a gritty soap you use with a scotchbrite to clean and scuff the areas you just clear coating. You can see the difference in sheen in the last two pics. I was planning on painting today, but got lazy.

Awesome info. My son and I were talking the other day and he was referring to your painting technics. Said he's been following your posts really closely. Now if I had only taken the time to do just that as well before I painted the 330. I probably wouldn't have had so many questions huh? LOL. Nice work....

Got the DJ72 snugged with some cooling baffles. Giving this more thought it will be beneficial because of static pressure that develops inside the cowl. And the 72 sets inside the cowl more than the DL50 did .

Well it’s that time of the summer again starting get tiered of some of the planes that I have been flying from the spring to now and checking over the remaining fleet to see what peaks my interest. This happens to me most of the time. So needs to clean up a couple of planes and put them away and get two ready to fly. Oil up engines and remove the batteries and clean up the gas tanks. Now I just have to figure out which planes I would like to fly for the rest of the summer.

It is one of the hottest days of the year here today... very little wind but it is hard to want to go outside in 110 degrees. I will head out flying later this evening when it is only like 102 degrees... instead of flying, I started a new project that 13 people in the Wichita Falls Radio Control Club are all doing at the same time. It is a Lazer Works Slim Jim 20. Lazer Works is a local company. We will all be flying these together in October at the same time. Should be interesting. Anyway, here are the pics of the short kit, and the building of the wing! It uses a 3/16" dowel as the leading edge, which I thought was an interesting way to do it.

Rotation Snoops... It's all in the rotation. I find (for myself) that if I fly one or two consistently, I tend to get bored with them. So I try to mix it up a bit. I guess it kind of depends on my mood, what is going on for the day I am going flying, weather and of course...projects that need to be finished. LOL. I usually have an "ole dependable standby" for my quick fix. That is usually my Pilot Edge. Love the snappy "keep you on your toes" response of this plane. The 106cs is a perfect power plant too. Then there are days I just want to relax and take it easy. Precise and smooth and graceful. The call is for the H-9 Sukhoi. For the need of getting my "WOW" factor fix, it's the 212cs powered Behemoth Yak. I really look forward to the maiden and subsequent flights of the new 330 too. I discovered today just how much I love that little Jtec Pitts. I've only put a handful of flights on it since I built it. I think like 10 or 11. Today, I took her out and the intention was to decide if I liked it enough to keep it or sell it. As I have been considering just that. First flight...hmm, just not sure. Second flight...hmmm! This is kind of fun. Third flight.... I discovered it is actually quite precise. Does some really nice and really smooth sloooooooow aileron rolls. It will definitely keep your attention focused though. LOL. I think I fell in love with it by the time I left for home. So pretty certain it is going to stay in the Epley hangar for awhile. LOL. Course there is always the SD Baby Yak. It is just a sweetheart of a plane to fly. Pretty sure it will be even sweeter when I get the "Mighty Dub" installed into it. So mix it up, fly one... then another....then another...then another....repeat.... I plan to fly every one of them every chance I get till the end of the season. Oh and next season? Pretty sure I will be close with a brand new addition of the warbird persuasion. Lol

Well went flying my Addiction this morning after I had re organized all my flight packs. I had just received my new IR meter, very interesting device always wanted one so I broke down and bought it. Well after playing with it i redid the packs, well flew theplane what a difference I was surprised. It really made a difference putting the correct batteries together. In time I will rebuild the packs to improve performance.

I finished painting the cowl and cuff for my Extra 300X yesterday. Since the surface of the fiberglass was so rough my results are less than spectacular, but that's whet you get sometimes when your trying to make Apple Butter out of .

It does look better than it did before the spinner ejected, so I guess that's a plus.
