The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Been working on this plane since 2004. I'm painting with latex. I painted the fuselage about 4 years ago and the base white pulled off with the trim masking tape. Sanded the latex down with 80 grit today and put on two coats of Zinsser primer. Will hopefully get the flat black sprayed on the dash area before end of day. The plane sits on 50" Fiberglass Masters floats fitted with Sea Commander struts, G38 power. Old school stuff. Hoping to get it RTF by next saturday for the LHMAC Float Fly at Acme Dam located near Summerset PA. Need to finish the paint and install the radio system. I could cheat and just paint the plane white without trim?

I ordered an E-Flite F-16 70 mm EDF for one of the guys I fly with last Friday. The Plane showed up to day at 3:00 pm we started assembly at 4:30 and We just Finished gluing in the dorsal fins, elevator half's, and the Rudder assembly. Programmed it in his DX9, checked rudder, gear, and ailerons. When the glue dries I will install the elevator linkage, set control surface center's and finish setup Dual rates Expo and throws, we are going to test fly it in the morning, We could have went out this evening, but with Trump flying on every thing is grounded her around Rapid City SD. There is a FAA NOTAM and a TFR for a 30 mile radius For Keystone SD (MOUNT RUSHMORE) and a 10 mile radius around EAFB, ground level to 17,999 AGL. From 6:30 tonight until !:30 am July 4th while Trump is here to watch the Fire Work display

Finished the covering - FINALLY!! Now the Python 100 is back to ARF form.
Then cleaned up the mess from the covering process.
Installed servos for elevators and rudder, hooked up linkages, and connected brace wires for the tail.
Goal is to fly next weekend - weather permitting.

Got the fuselage painted white and the windows cut, fit and glued in place. I'm not putting any trim colors on now, hoping to get the plane ready for Saturday. Picked up these Savox SG1210SG water proof servos for the float rudders at Joe Nall last year, show special for $50 each. The servos are mounted inside the floats connected to a torque shaft, been working on the linkage details tonight. The rudders are Ernst 156 retractable rudders, the stock mounting bracket was crap so I made new brackets out of KS brass sheet and 1/4" brass rod, the rudders are connected to the torque shaft with parts from a DuBro Vee tail mixer. The rudders are mounted on the floats with Fuchs 5/32" nose wheel bearing blocks. I had to dig deep into the parts supply to come up with this mess!

Brought the mustang home with me yesterday. First order of business was getting it cleaned up. It took two baths, first with the pressure washer then actual soap and water. Not pictured is where I got two trash bags worth of drink bottles, and other random crap out of the interior. Was pretty obvious my buddies teenage son had been driving it. Then went to investigate the brakes. His kid had parked the car two years ago saying he had to keep adding brake fluid and the brakes felt really soft. I think I found the problem. The rest of the brakes aren’t far from that either with all of them having no friction material left on them.

My little girl seems to have already claimed the car for herself.
