@BalsaDust

you’ve inspired me through my inspiration that inspired you to rethink what I had previously thunk. ROFL!!
I think I’d rather use tungsten putty than that 1k LiPo so I can get the throws. Measured 8mm total throws at 140% travel from the servo arm verses 6mm at 100%. With the arm being a tad shorter than the control rod I don’t think I’d even get optimal throws. More reading I’ve found that more people prefer all you can get on the elevator for pushing over at the top and up for snap flaps. Man these simple dlgs are more complicated than I thought!!
Here are my two options and I think I’m going with the canted servos now. I’ll just need to be a bit more careful with my battery usage and swap them out. I’m finding with my mini dart a 20min flying session may only eat 30-40mAh tops.

Tungsten is the way to go. Heavier than lead and takes up less space.

I like the angled setup. Would you like the model I drew up for my tray? Should be easy to modify to work with what looks like MKS 65's. My next piece of advice for you is loose the big RX. You can do everything with four channels including the battery hook up and save a ton of space. Pictured is the RX I run in mine. Its four channels I soldered the battery lead to the RX and literally to save even more space I de-soldered all the pins and turned them around to face over top of the RX.

Yeah everyone is different with them for sure. I started off with a basic setup and flaps on a switch. Flew my buddies F2 with a full F3K program in it and I instantly got his program and dumped it in my radio.

Decided I didn't like the look of the bare kevlar nose so I got the spray paint out. Orange shows well for me in the air. Ignore the tall grass its been to wet in my back yard for the mower the past couple of weeks.

Nice work on the RX, I thought about it as well. The constraint is the width of my receiver. unfortunately Futaba is lacking in small 4ch full range telemetry receivers that can operate on lower voltage. I really want to have the voltage telemetry on my 1S battery and I have a bunch of R7008SB receivers so I decided to use what I had. I will end up soldering the leads most likely as well. I did end up ordering some tungsten putty last night.

As far as the tray goes, the MKS75K (not 65) are a bit wider than the KSTs at 9mm, so the offset is slightly different. I've never manipulated another file before so it may be easier to sketch it up myself given the F2 has a smaller pod. I also learned that the F2 has a shorter nose and tail than the original Flitz.

Flew my mini dart today for 12min before I had to go to work. watched a bald eagle hook a thermal, and kept looking for the signs but I just cannot seem to turn inside a thermal without loosing altitude. I did get a few turns that got me about 30ft up. I was pretty excited LOL. I am super eager to get my F2 up and running so I can stay aloft easier.

By the way... you can really bend your thumb!!

did not know it was shorter overall. I know the tails I’m installing on my Flitz are actually F2 tails which overall are slightly smaller but the actual movable part of them is larger.

Spent quite a few hours attempting to achieve sweet geometric bliss with the Flitz2 ailerons and pod configurations. I have never been so frustrated and defeated in programing and geometry that I must retire to bed at 1am. Basically it's hard to get the ailerons/flaperons to do exactly what I want them to do without compromising another aspect (binding on 1S, throws lower than desired, servo torsion, hard link binding... ect.) of the set up. man. I feel like I've wasted a weeks worth of spare time attempting to get this glider all set up... I'd never thought gliders would be so difficult! I really respect DLGs with 4 in the pod.... so... I may have just bought a Falcon DLG - guess it's a early birthday present to me and a fathers day gift from my little girl LOL. Not giving up on the Flitz2, but it's taking a lot longer than I was anticipating.

It must be a Father’s Day miracle. Mamma came home from night shift, baby and mamma down for a nap - I installed the wing servos in the Flitz2 as about happy as I could get. I learned that you can used a Trim1/2 feature in the Futaba 18SZ that is not the same as using an offset mix that was giving me some issues. Then also learned that the Trim1/2 is where I can make my flight mode for launching with a delay for reset. Cool stuff. Here’s a picture of the Flitz2 wing servos installed with balsa shims and epoxy with micro balloons. Normally the shims would be tiny... but I kept enlarging the bays to fiddle around more. As soon as I finished, my little girl woke up. Perfect!!

The lower Falcon (blue/green) is now mine! Just awaiting a couple add ons before he ships it to me.

I have yet to fly a Falcon but its my understanding they are amazing. Yes getting ailerons setup on a DLG is a PITA but worth it once down right.

The falcon is going to spoil me with 4 in the pod LOL.

Think I've said it before, but Oleg Golovidov (onRCG) designed the falcon and sells them there thought his web page. To be honest, with prices going up like crazy this is one of the cheaper 1.5m DLG's on the market IMO for what you're getting. I have a buddy who bought an ArmSoar 1M Deviant (loves it) and I was thinking about it... but the prices went up considerably ($515 now!) and the 1.5M falcon is still priced reasonably (for a DLG) at $670. Compare that to any high end 1.5m DLG on the market and your in the 800-100 range.

This whole DLG thing it taking me some time to get into, and I am just blown away how fun it can be. I can have a glider in the back of my truck and go for a quick 1/2hr lunch break and get 8-12min of flight time. Resets my brain, and makes the thumb twitching stop temporarily LOL.

Yup exactly. I have had a couple of 1M DLG's and they are fun but they require alot of work to fly well. I have found they just generally move so quick that they blow through lift pretty quickly if your not on your toes and ready to react when the plane signals.
