The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I was on RealFlight late this afternoon flying a helicopter I had downloaded from the swap pages and decided I really liked the color scheme. That got me thinking, which is always dangerous. So tonight I started fixing a broken canopy that I'm not using anymore from my Trex 550e so I can paint it in a similar scheme.

I had done a quick repair with CA and glass cloth on it before so I could use it for the test flights after I fixed the heli after the crash. So, the first thing I needed to do tonight was clean off of much of it as I could. After that I added some new glass cloth with resin. Tomorrow if I don't go flying I'll start some body work.

That's pretty cool Doug! Can't wait to see the finished product.

@pawnshopmike The last thing we did yesterday was to check the horizontal tail fin and after sliding it in place checked to make sure it was square and level with the wing. After sliding it in place we found it to be almost 1/2" higher on the left side and had to sand the top right, and bottom left side of the slot to get it straight with the wing, took and extra 2 hrs. We were not to happy about the poor fit

looks good but what about that big scratch built balsa bird. We are waiting for more progress on that.

It's celebrating its second birthday this month. I'll get back on it when the weather turns.

That is unusual for a PA. Their stuff is usually spot on.

You will like the way it flys. It's like a giant foamie! Very light for it's size.

I know. I have assembled both size Addiction X profiles and they were spot on. This Extreme MX most have been framed up on a late Friday!!!LOL!!! You are right they fly like over sized Foamies. Here is a shot of the larger AddictionX. After the TEST FLIGHT!!!

All done. Didn't work out trying to cut out some letters for the side of it. Just couldn't get the cuts smooth enough. The owner said he is happy the way it is so it's done and on to the kadet.

Loaded new 60cc PAU Edge 540T with MKS HV777 servos. Still waiting on a motor...

Got started on my Edge, control horns glued in, aileron, an rudder servo's in, got her on her feet. I'm using a old soldering iron to open up servo location, then using a black sharpie to black out the tabs. It's going together quickly, only complaint so far, is the control horns. I've had to sand 1/16-1/8 off each one, to get them to fit flush in pocket.

Question : 3rd pic, where I removed covering for control horn, if I had blacked that out with sharpie, would there be any issue with my epoxy bonding correctly?

I don't think so Donnie. Typically a sharpies "ink" would wick into the wood and not act as a seal. You should be fine!
