Turnigy TGY-i10 full telemetry 10 ch computer radio

I had an old TF 15x7 wood I sanded down for a thinner blade. Bolted it to the motor and hover authority is much better and really putting some load to good use. Battery is actually getting warm now and motor gets hot. I held the plane at the wing tip and got 8 minutes of solid hovering with the weight of the plane. I changed the Lv setting to 13.6 volts. This left about 600ma in the pack.
Hovers at just above half stick with this prop and much better pull out authority :).

I had forgotten how much fun it is to put around the shop with electric stuff. Took the cowl off and reinforced the rpm optical sensor mount so any vibration wont affect it. I was getting erratic readings at WOT. Also discovered that the resolution of this radio system is so precise that I had the throttle trim down to low causing a loss of top end rpm. Previously I had a full charge battery no load rpm of 11800. With the throttle trim set to neutral (0) I got over 13100 no load rpm. If you take the voltage shown in the pic and round it to 16.4 and multiply it by the kv rating(800) the rpms match@13120 (13129) pretty close. Actually displayed voltage of 16.39 gives 13112 rpm and is still very close. So for a hundredth of a volt the optical rpm sensors accuracy is -8 +9 rpm or +-8.5 rpm. Not bad for an optical sensor!

I also like how the voltage sensors just plug in to the balance port of a lipo. All of the sensors offered by Turnigy are so inexpensive I am going to stock up for future models. Waiting for the 6 and 10 channel telemetry receivers to come in stock again. They too are priced right! and will stock up when available.

I am going to continue to fly the electrics with this radio for a bit of more time before I do put it in a big gasser. @Alky6 are you flying your EF extra 60" as an electric? and if so what prop/motor/esc/battery you using?
With the 60" Edge EXP I am thinking using the motor and esc shown earlier with a 16x8 falcon cf electric prop and run two 3s nano-tec 2250ma's in series. I did this before with PA Extra MX 58" about 10 years ago and performance was awesome back then with crappy lipos.

I just want to add about the radio performance when I put the first flights on it. Along with me a Jetti DS16, Spectrum DX18, A Taranis, and a Futaba fasst system where all in the air with me. NO ISSUES :).

I went with the recommended Torque motor, ESC, and 6S 3300mAh 30C glacier batts. using the APC 15x6 prop. Got it from my inlaws for birthday/christmas. Gotta love my inlaws!
Flying the living piss out of it I get a solid 6.5 minute flight with pack voltages at 22.6 volts. Can get 10 minute flights with good power management.

Torque 4016T/500Kv
Airbosss 80A ESC
hs-7245mh servos (pretty awesome littel servos)
unhooked the BEC and using a separate 2s 450mAh lipo. Get three flights out of the batt and it is at 7.8V.

Will have to go back and look at the motor you are referencing. I don't have a weight on it yet. The airframe is really light. Was plannin on 3700mAh batts, but the 3300 seem fine. That thing would be really light with 2250's!

EDIT: I corrected the prop size. It is 15x6 not 16x7!

Well some good news about pictures......I will be getting a new Galaxy 7 edge phone in about a week so my :dancing-poop:pictures will soon be Awesome!:). But until then I got more :steamer: to show ya'll......

Having too much fun with this radio and electric schtuff! A little bit about this 1400 mm EPO Foamy Sbach. Even at five pounds it is a solid flyer! But out of the box mine was less than ideal like the picture shows on HK. About 8 hours of additional work correcting the tail wheel, landing gear, different prop, cutting / drilling and balancing the supplied spinner, removing motor and mount for corrections, making better provision for cooling air and touch up of the applied scheme it has turned out NICE!
I consistently get 8 minute hovers holding the plane and blasting the throttle to mimic pull outs. After swapping out the prop with a modified TF 15x7 and pain stakenly modifying and balancing the spinner this thing is going to be a 3d beast! I almost can't believe it!:fist_pump:. I can get the motor to Idle at 1500 rpm instead of 2200 previously before the ESC cuts off. Very smooth throttle ups and very little if any vibrations! Prop tips track true through the rpm range making this power system as powerful and efficient as I could! The pack gets hand warm and the motor gets mildly hot to the touch. Can't wait to get some vid of it in the air!

Back to the radio.......Going completely through the programming there are no pre set snap roll functions but you can set up a custom wing configuration with the amount of surface deflection and assign it to a switch thusly making a snap roll switch. There is only one spring return switch so some will see this as a negative as far as trainer function is concerned. To me it is nothing more than making and setting it as a condition and assign it to the spring switch. This will follow the model so if you want a snap roll function for all your models it will have to be done manually. The upside is you can still do any thing you want pretty much even if you had a plane with split ailerons and wanted the outboard surfaces to "crow" for STOL like flight.

I will check in time to time as I find new things about this very nice and inexpensive system. I wont give up my Futaba but this radio is making for a really nice second radio. Now that I am back in to electric planes the electric models are going to this system.
