Two Throttle Linkage Questions??

My method for throttle linkage is neither right nor wrong but the way I do it based on years of experience.

Heck I have even heard of people using Dubro EZ connectors for throttle linkages. Not on any of my planes, but that doesn't make them right or wrong but certainly risky in my book.


I once saw a guy find out how long he could fly at half throttle because his EZ connector on the throttle arm gave out!! It was 25 mins BTW!! I also had a clevis come loose at the throttle arm on the engine. That is why I only use the bolt on 1/4 scale 4-40 ball links!

Metal on metal vibration reguardless of any rod length can create an rf noise. It may not be that big of a deal with 2.4 but still.

Using clevises at the carb throttle arm on a gas engine is simply bad practice. The vibrations up there are intense and I won't trust a press fitted clevis pin to last any real length of time. I always use a bolt on ball link at the throttle arm. A clevis is fine at the throttle servo horn.


Pam is right on the money. From days of old, it was said that running a metal to metal connection on your throttle set ups "can" create an RF feedback. This was especially so in with the older FM radios. Since the introduction of the 2.4, there has not been a lot, (at least not what I have heard) of negative input. However, I take "NO" chances with my setups. 2/56 is usually okie dokie. I use Dubro ball links on both ends. It makes it so much easier, looks so sweet and the adjustment capabilities are endless. And to that, they are very robust.
