Help! What size tank for 50cc Yak54

Looking for advise.... I recently came into a 30% yak 54 with a DA50r motor. I am looking to lighten the plane a bit, currently it has a 24oz (dubro)? tank. From looking around I see most 50cc guys recommnding a 16 to 20oz tank so I purchased a 17oz tank. Do you guys think this will be right for approx 10min flight with enough to spare for a go around?

Should be fine. I use a 20 oz glacial water bottle on 50-60cc stuff and in 10 minutes I only use about 2/3 of the tank. If you are really ripping it up you may use more though. You should fly it a few times and check it then you can tell exactly how much you are using.

Ah heck, don't listen to those guys. 17 ounces is not near enough. Hack out room for a monster 50 ouncer and do an endurance flight. You might be low on fuel and have to land next year. LOL....just kidding. All the above mentioned are correct. 17 ounces is more than enough fuel for a normal 10 minute flight. Considering most 150 to 170cc class engines use approximately 2 to 2.5 ounces per minute at wot, a normal 50cc class will sip around an ounce to ounce and a half....if even that much. Take 17 and divide it by 1.5 (way over the useage max) and that gives you 11.3333 (infinite) minutes at wot. I don't know anyone that flies wide open throttle from take off to landing. Comparison example, my 3W 157cs will use about 20 to 22 ounces for a good 10 minute flight. I do sometimes open her up to wot for some high speed down on the deck inverted fly by's. But normally, really hardly get above 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. My 170 is right at about the same. Only my 212 4 cylinder exceeds this average. Usually around 30 ounces for a good 10-12 minute flight. So by comparison, a 17 ounce will be plenty for that DA 50.
 
Thanks guys that's what I was looking for. Now just to get it all put back together. It's a used plane but new to me so switching and updating all the electronics and replacing all the fuel components.

This is pretty awesome. Nothing like taking something used and making it all new and your own. I applaud you for taking on the task. By the way, which tank did you purchase? I am kind of partial to the TDRC tanks. Even though I go through and remove the fuel tubing supplied and replacing it with the Tygon and a Super Klunk, the tank is quite top notch in my opinion.

I also went with the TDRC tank I also used one in my Edge. I really like them. I didn't replace the inner lines but I did add a short lengh of hard tubing and put felt clunks in both. I use TDRCs red fuel tubing just because I can't stand yellow haha. I found a good deal on the plane just a few minor things to fix I had my first go at repairing a canopy... I removed the canopy and then the pilot figure, replaced the foam cockpit floor and did my best to clean up the plastic cockpit. Letting everything dry for a couple days then I'll glue the canopy back on.
