Just placed my first order with McMaster-Carr... Somehow it got screwed up and they shipped it 2nd day air to Alaska... it was some Viton Fuel tubing and some screws for almost $40... ouch. Contacted them immediately and said whoaaahhhh! catch that sucker before it leaves the warehouse! too late :cryin:, I told them this was my first order and was never intended to ship $70 worth of goodies for $40. (they don't provide actual shipping costs unless requested).
Seeing that there was distress on my end :msn_slap: they said it would have been $12 Priority Mail, and they'll refund my entire shipping cost.... Umm what? :ooh?: I said just bill me the PM shipping? They said NOPE! This one is free on us, but next time here's how you should do it (additional Comments; Priority mail quote).

I'm blown away! They have gained a repeat customer and I'm already exploring the site more for what appears to be their unlimited supply of endless products available. Talk about a happy customer!

And this is how true Customer Service should work......they've taken care of a customer mistake, even though they were under absolutely no obligation to do so.
By doing this the VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER is shouting McMaster Carr's praises from the roof-top (ie over the Internet), providing free, positive press worth way more than the pittance they put out for the shipping cost.

Big thumbs up to Mcmaster Carr!

It's too bad they don't offer shipping rates during checkout - this would have prevented this as well. I am slightly dissapointed they wouldn't let me pitch in for the shipping costs - as no business should loose money. But as you just said, they helped me out big time, and earned my trust and business.

Been out of the hobby for 3-4 years. Sold several of my favorite planes including 110in Cessna 310, 40cc powered Big Foot, and other really cool planes. Here’s what I discovered - my shop was so crowded i had to rearrange stuff just to put a plane on the bench. Storage was limited and everything had to be in its place or I couldn’t accomplish anything! In a word or two it was untenable and overwhelming. Couldn’t do maintenance, and sure couldn’t build anything. I got rid of everything except for 3 smallish planes. I’m back! It’s fun again! And the big brown airplane truck just dropped off a Valiant 30. Pictures to follow. BTW- I’ll never get in that situation again.
