LOL, yup, that's a long life for an ARF. I find that sometimes if I rash something up and fix it......it quickly becomes my favorite plane because I fly it like it does not owe me anything!!!

We actually have some building weather here in San Diego. It’s raining so I got some work done
I have completed most all the wood repairs to the fuselage. Several stringers were broke from hanger rash and the sheeting around the front of the fuse was all cracked. Instead of ripping it all of I glued new 3/32” balsa over it using Gorilla glue. Then I sanded it all down to blend in. The gorilla glue expands and helped strengthen the area real good.
The rudder servo tray was cracked and I am using push/pull so I removed it and replaced it with light ply to keep the strength. I also added some light sheeting and a couple dowels to the firewall to hold the monster ZDZ on good.
I weighed the fuse before I started and after. I gained less than a .25lb
Next I will look at the wings and stabs. I don’t think they will need much other than I am installing all new hinges after re-covering.

All the wood is ready to be covered. I did a few small sheeting repairs on the wings from finger crabs and most importantly I did some extra strengthening on the ailerons. I added a spar the lengthy of it to help stiffen it. I went over every glue joint with CA before sanding everything with 220 grit.
With rain expected this weekend my plan is to cover the entire plane between Friday and Sunday with the exception of a couple hour break to attend the American Multirotor Association I mean AMA show
Saturday morning.

The colors are white, yellow and black and I'm open to any suggestions if you got pics or designs that I can actually do lol.

I started the covering but realized I forgot I wanted to switch this plane over to a push/pull as with all my other planes.
So I thought I'd do a @Terryscustom informative custom modification thingy. Of course not as good as Terry's
Reason for this:
1. The tail needs weight and
2. The feel of the rudder is so much better to me.
3. Cables always seem to go slack on me.
Here is how I do it. First I cut a square out of the bottom of the rudder so that the opening starts at the back of the leading edge. I Do Not throw away the cut out piece as I glue it back in place when I'm finished. I cut two squares approximately 1 1/2" balsa and epoxy them to each side and against the leading edge. Then I trace the cut out on to the rudder and cut for the horns. After I epoxy everything in place I glue the bottom piece back on and re-cover. The servo is installed in a cut out on the lower sides of the fuse.
@Terry made these horns for me. They are absolutely AWESOME! The geometry is perfect. Buy them from him if you need them.

Dang it!! I just ordered from @Taildraggerrc yesterday and never saw those!! I have a couple uses for those.....one is receivers and the other is an Aura gyro I bought from Flex. I guess I'll add it to the shopping list.
Great job on the rudder horns
Not that you want to do that much surgery but moving the stab up quite a bit would really change that plane.....sorry bugs me every time I see it I get a twitch and want to grab a saw.
