Ok so here's a question that I'm a bit curious about. With the additional power of the ZDZ 180 over a DA 170 (just for comparison sake, they are pretty popular), is it more difficult to control the plane in a hover or another 3D maneuver or is it easier?

The reason why I ask goes back to basically the resolution of the pilot's fingers/thumbs. So if it's a super fine line between the plane dropping, hovering, or pulling out for example, it seems like it could be more difficult.

I'm just curious because I am considering getting one of these but a DA 150L/170 and 3W 170 is also on the list.

I know others will probably give more educated answers but here is my take.

I know exactly what you are saying. I have had over powered planes and it drove me crazy trying to just do a basic hover. When I learned how to set the proper throttle curve with points it changed my world. Now I want all the power I can get so it's there when I need it and want it yet it still has a soft feel. The ZDZ does not feel peaky at all. I've had engines with pipes and the thing that is hard for me to get my thumbs around is the peaky feeling of one click up and the planes gone and one click down and I'm stalling all over the place. I have a very very small curve on my 180 and it's just so that the stick is where I like it in a hover.

No, that's a fair assessment.

I don't know why I didn't think of using a throttle curve to tailor it to my style.

Odd to consider a throttle curve but it's been recommended before.

For me the smaller the plane the more I need a throttle curve. I have an EF 91 Extra and without a curve I'm all over the place LOL.

I was lucky enough to have a day with no work and nothing on the list so I got a lot done on the plane for the ZDZ180

I did a few clips of time lapse of foam cutting just for fun.
