Got it to the field but no "joy" on wheels up for the engine would not start . I'm fed up with this airframe and it's inability to accommodate 70/80cc class canisters. Going to pull the canister and "gut" all the internal baffling and see if that will let the 72 "breathe".

Of course my buddies planes engines ran flawlessly as I sat and watched him fly and "rub" it in...……..Sheeesho_O.

Where the heck is the “Don’t Like” button??!!! Hate the fact that you didn’t get a flight or three in today!!

That sucks, have to agree with you if the engine will not run that is frustrating. I refuse to struggle at the field when a plane will not run. I will take home strip out of the plane stick it on the test stand and work on it. Let us know what you find. But the most important thing is you made it to field.

Yea...….After about 50 flips, and defeated, it was time to go home and soak my shoulder in a hot shower and sulk. I did fly my jet though:). I know what's wrong. Needles are rich from "running new" during the summer and the canister is way to small for this engine but it is the only size you can fit in to the airframe with out compromising structural integrity. Poorly designed "pipe tunnel" for an airframe of this size. A pitts muffler may be in order if I can't gut the baffles inside the canister.

Before you try to get to the baffles you may try just replacing the stinger or exit pipe to a size bigger. Don’t know how many chambers it has but will be difficult to get to all of them. Let’s us know how you make out. Instead butchering the canister it may be easier to just to install a Pitts type muffler.

Made arrangements for an extended sitter, so I loaded up and headed to the field to maiden the Challenger. When I turned off the interstate I remembered I forgot the struts, so I turned around and am back home. What a waste of time and a few hundred bucks. I am of the understanding I can do it again tomorrow, we will see.

Really need the “Don’t like” button. That’s twice in two days.

Only reason I haven’t forgotten my struts is because they fit in the wing bags, along with the wing tubes!
Hardware stays in the plane in a special container which is held in by Velcro.
At least I can get all the parts of the plane to the field. Just don’t ask what else I’ve left behind.

At least I was consoled by an AT-6 flying over the house when I got home.....

That sucks, like you said there is always tomorrow depending on the weather. Hope you have a successful maiden tomorrow. The first one is always the tough one.
