Got the left side stab and elevator covered with fabric today. Began tape on the stab but want to get the trim tab details worked out before taping the elevator. Cut a reinforcement for the top of the elevator out of 1/64" plywood. Preshrunk the fabric on a 1x2 wood frame. I took the fabric up to 275 F on the frame then cut reinforcement patches.

Great technique for the reinforcement patches! Thanks for sharing this one.

Spent the better part of the day making fixtures to hold the small parts for painting. Getting warmer north of the Mason Dixon line, 60's next week! Just might get some painting done. Still need to make fixtures for the rudder and cowl.

I heard of this 'Mason Dixon' line before. Some sort of boundary way up north I think. Sounds cold up there so I've never crossed it. Isn't that where we discussed years ago needing a wall to keep the yankees out? :msn_slap:

My phone said 18 f this morning, was too cold to go out and check if it was right. Weather improving this week. Might dust some primer on the cowl and start that process, there's quite a bit of massaging done to it so I expect two or three rounds of primer and sanding. This will be done with Rustoleum automotive primer surfacer. Once happy with the finish will use 1 coat of Stewards Ekopoxy primer on all the fiberglass and aluminum parts before the color coat.

The most amazing thing is that he got a kit from CCK. Renowned for delays and canceled orders, CCK is not well liked in the classic pattern forum.
