Oh yea the wheel pants, they are big! Lol. When I first started mocking it up with them I thought the same thing, but they look better as I go.

They are actually pretty scale though, the first set of pants Harold put on the full scale were off of an early Cessna 182, which are big and kinda fat with a long nose. The full scale Krier isn't much bigger than an S-2 Pitts, so they looked pretty big.

Later on Harold replaced the 182 pants for the ones off of his Great Lakes, but I (and obviously grampa) like the big Cessna pants a little better

I was fortunate to grow up in a family that was aviation oriented. My Dad was a fan of all the late great aerobatic pilots, Harold Krier being one of them. I have had the pleasure of seeing Harold fly, although I was just a youngster at the time. Going thru some of Dad's (now mine) library a ran across this little gem. Paperback, published in 1963.....Dad probably bought it at a show and had Harold sign it. The only picture of the Krier Kraft is shown during construction without the cowling, wheel pants, or paint.

Wow, that is crazy awesome!! The picture of the Krier in that book has got to be a very rare one.

The autograph is the best part, that is a serious piece of history. Definitely need to make sure that book is kept in the safest place possible!

OK..... first is this fabulous framed print of Harold flying his Great Lakes. The original oil painting was done by R.A. Benjamin in 1982 and is signed by the artist........unfortunately not by Harold, who died in 1971.

Here's a photo from a great book, "They Call Me Mr. Airshow", by Bill Sweet. This is Charlie Hillard landing the Krier Kraft....canopy is slid back.
