Weather was good enough to let me get two flights on this Edge. New DLE 35 fired up fairly easy, had lean top end a tad but runs good. Plane flies awesome, gonna like it a bunch.

BUT there is 2 gleaming issues present:

1. The CG is too far back. I am planning on alleviating that with step 2:
2. The rudder does not have linear control throw, it moves way quicker to the left than it does to the right. I fear the only recourse for this is to set the airplane up with pull pull as the tail servo setup is just all incorrect (from the factory).

Wow I thought the 20+ were having here was bad, 50 miles an hour would blow your plane away before takeoff.

I just checked our weather station at the field, 21mph average, 29 top speed.
I know it is just crazy the weather we are having in this area we have had only 2 days of flying at the field this year. Need to build a brick with an engine on so that I can go and fly in this wind, all these super light planes are useless in the wind.

Now that you mention the battery capacity, it is a question I always ask myself when I see the size or better said the capacity size of the battery's people are installing in there planes. Of all my planes I have never been able to use more than 380 mAH per flight and that is in a 40% plane weighing 40 lbs. at 5 flights the most you will need is 3000 mah. That leaves you with a 30% plus safety margin so two 1500 would be sufficient or at most 2 -2000 mAH packers. I must say spending sometime at the 3 D line at JoeNall most the planes had 2-5000 mAH packs. But a few were running what I believe to be some what better and one of them was Jase he was running two 1300 mAH packs I believe. Or am I missing something.
It's interesting of your usage. On a normal 6 (10) minute flight day with my 260, she will use around 2000 to 2100 mah per pack. That is right at a total of 4200 mah. If I do the math, that is 350 mah per pack per single flight. My first few flights I used to worry if I had enough power. But after keeping a meticulous record on all my planes since the day they were new, I now find that two 5200 mah LiIons or "more" than enough for my big birds. I like the extra margin of safety. 10,400 mah on board keeps me from ever having to worry. But I never push any of my planes past six flights before a full charge. Now I see why "SupaTim" and all the rest of "Those Guys"....and many others have gone to the 3600 mah Lipo's. I started thinking that perhaps I am over doing it with the batteries on my 100cc'ers. I think the next time I need batteries, I am going to start putting Pulse packs in all of them 100cc size and smaller.

For what it is worth...The Pitts peformed flawlessly today. She is ultra crisp, responsive, accurate and smooth as silk. I really didn't hammer on her too hard today. But I did get in a few hovers...even though the wind was blowing pretty good. I also just had to race with my son with his BE 124 powered Pilot 330sc. Keep in mind the Pitts outweighs his 330 by about 5 to 6 pounds, has two wings and is 54cc's smaller in engine displacement. Guess who won...??!!! He pulled ahead on the back stretch a little. But by turn 3 and into the straights for the finish line, I pretty much dusted him. NASCAR in the sky.

That "Dub" 70 twin flat out sang music to my ears today. The Pitts is fast and straight opened up, but pretty tame and relaxed slowed down. I did some really-really nice stall turns transitioning into some down line aileron rolls. I am very impressed of how this plane flies. I am liking it more every time I take it out. If only I had known building and flying "YOUR" own masterpiece could be this much fun. I have to say it again, thank you to all you guys that kept prodding and pushing me and keeping my confidence up. That plane really is worth it's weight in gold. Wouldn't it be nice to have a 41% in the same scheme as baby brother? Of course, it would definitely have to have four

Tanner, I am curious why you don't have linear throw on the rudder?? Both my "Crown Royal" and "Olympic" scheme are perfect on linearity. I did find that you are correct with CG issue though. On my Crown Royal, I didn't have too much problem as I had headers and canisters to help with that. It was still just a tad tail heavy, but I placed the flight packs so that I would have that tail weight. With the Olympic however, stock DLE exhaust and very light 111, I found that it is a bit more tail heavy than I like. Without adding the weight of the canister exhaust I plan to make flight pack extensions and move my flight packs way up front. Not sure if this is going to help much. But the plane only comes in about 26 pounds. She is very light and far more crisp than what I was expecting. I really need to get her out and do some more flying with her. Right now, it's almost spooky responsive. LOL.

Good to see the bi-plane in the air and it is flying well and you are enjoying it. Yes it is always exciting to fly something you built. It is so much more satisfying than an ARF. I have just finished the Sportster and it is no big deal but I am more excited about it than getting my 50cc ARF in the sky. I have to say for just flying and racing around the modern 3D planes suck they are to light and the wings to big for that.
I agree with you that 2-3600mAh battery's will do the job just fine, that is one thing I like doing and keeping meticulous track of my battery's and the usage. I also have a special battery discharger connected to a computer that plots the discharge and the voltage and capacity so that I can see how performs over time.
Do not know what I did wrong but I rewrote it again.

Dodged thunder storms all day but got to rip it up with these all day today! Old school flying fun..
The planes look good are they UltraSport planes. Love the plane I still have one and if I have the need for some speed I take it out to the field. Always enjoy flying the plane.
