E-Flite UMX AS3Xtra

Can't believe there's not a thread on this plane yet on this forum.

I waited 4 months for my order to be filled and shipped. Then another 3 weeks for time and weather to cooperate. Finally maidened it this morning. Buy gosh she's insanely easy to fly! I only spent time in Standard AS3X mode. Compared to the original red one, the new one flies slower. Definitely gonna go through lots of packs in the yard with this plane.

I have had 2 of them. they are great at first, then the brushed motor just starts to suck. I have three custom air frames and am working on a brush-less motor upgrade. They are a blast indoors or on a clam day. Enjoy

Awesome backyard plane

That's the plan. That's where I flew the red one the most. I must say, though I'm not looking forward to replacing the motor after about 50 flights. That was the common gripe on the threads and has a near 100% occurrence rate.

My motor is still good it would be nice if it had twice the berries though.

The crack lazer or the msxc, now those are an awesome back yard plane. The as3xtra is great for indoors in small spaces.

I agree. My laser would've liked a gymnasium more, but I'm dying to get that MXS-C to huck around at night cookouts :D

I have both the red one and the green one

I bought some of the new 45C 1s batteries - seems to deliver just that little bit of extra power that makes hovering possible past the first minute of flight.

your mileage may vary - but it works for me

Guys the reason I didn't like the AS3Xtra was the brushed motor. It flew great a first, but after 50 -60 flights, the plane wouldn't even hover. Now I have the solution. A brush less motor upgrade. Heck a lot of upgrades. the only thing I will use is the brick from the original plane.

The new airframe is made from Depron, but a light weight version called Aero Foam. Also I will use a single Nano servo for the Aelirons, that will be driven by the brick. Lastly the brick needs to be reprogrammed to the brushless setting to drive the new ESC and motor.

Its going to be a killer little plane again. Here is a video of the kit that I got.

And a video of one flying.

If anyone here is interested, i will do a build thread. Seeing not much interest in my TVVPP project here, I didn't plan on doing one for this little guy here.
