Best day ever yesterday. My daughter had asked a few months back on a camping trip if she could help build an airplane. When we got home I got this glider kit out and told her it is her plane that we will build. Yesterday we finally got started on it. Here is everything to get started. She went...

Have done a good bit of work in fusion 360 this week during my lunch breaks working towards the conversion of this old Kraft radio. Here I have the case of it modeled and I have designed an adapter plate to use the modern gimbals as well as digital trims from my taranis. Been quite a lot of fun...

Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

If you search Fusion 360 for beginners on Amazon there are a few options. Not sure how good an of them are though. For me I had been learning Inventor for work so I was able to self teach myself Fusion.

Tony, read along on this thread I started. I still need to get back on this and finish it up so I can share the files for anyone who would like to build one. It may not be the correct way of doing things but it's what works for me. Find the patience. It's worth it once you learn it. I will not...

Also per Ben on 3D printed molds. Unless you plan to mass produce its not worth the time to prep the mold to a super smooth finish. Instead do the following. 1. Wax the mold 5-6 times. Lots of the residue will be left in the texture of the printed part and that's fine. 2. Next do 4 or 5 coats of...

Per talking with Ben Fisher from Extreme Flight about the cowl of a plane I designed. He suggest 5 layers for 2-3oz cloth. Lay a layer in the mold and wet it out. Allow 30ish minutes setup time then layup another layer. Use paper towels to blot out excess resin.

Look forward to seeing how this looks out of the bag. I reckon it should look similar to the stuff EF uses in their airframes now though they don't use Carbon Fiber. Instead they just use fiberglass and tint the resin black as it just looks better.

Yeah catfish was the perfect eating size but we turned it loose. We caught the hybrid while fishing with minnows trying to catch Crappie.

Rebuild is almost complete. Got everything glued back in place this morning so I just need to stick the covering back down and go fly it again.

Hey it was basically a free to me plane so I'm not complaining too much. IT shows how good the plane is though that in that few of flights I was already comfortable doing snaps down low.

Well flight number 5 after rebuilding the Raven resulted in a dumb thumb. Was flying in heavy winds and did a snap roll into harrier down low. Was flying with a tail wind and even going full throttle it just didn't start climbing fast enough and a smacked into one of the pilot safety fences...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

during our camping trip this weekend my 5 year old daughter told me she wanted to help build an airplane. When we got home yesterday I grabbed this very basic glider kit for her to see the plans and box of wood to see if she really wanted to do this. She is very excited about it. Hopefully she...
