    Scale Byrons Originals Pitts Special

I finally got around to the maiden flight last week and it was interesting to say the least. As expected, the Pitts is very tricky on the takeoff roll. It took me 3 attempts to get it airborne. The first 2 resulted in what I would describe as spin outs. On the 3rd attempt I got the tail off the...

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

No I have not flown it yet. I still have to setup the throttle linkage, balance it and tune the engine. I am using an RCGF 40cc Twin for power. Hope to maiden it sometime this early spring.

Just some fine tuning left do including figuring out the exhaust system. I do not want to cut holes in the cowl and yet I have not been able to locate a 7/8" ID flexible exhaust pipe.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

Wondering if this might work? Red Silicone Hose, 7/8" I.D. 45 degree, 6" Legs This hose is built for endurance and performance in custom coolant plumbing applications. Silicone rubber with 3-ply reinforcement makes this hose tough, reliable, and flexible to temperatures from -50°C to +200°C.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

The 1" ID flexible exhaust tubing is too large. The OD of my exhaust stacks is 7/8". I was hoping I could adapt the 1" ID tubing but that doesn't look likely. I never expected this to be the issue it has become. Unless I can find a solution soon I will have to reluctantly cut holes in the cowl...

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

Update: I have ordered 2 feet of 1" stainless steel flexible exhaust tubing from B&B Specialties. I plan to cut off the stock exhaust stacks as suggested by Rooman and attach the tubing. I will post some pics when done. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

They didn't really say. They just told me that they compared them side by side and they did not match.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

Thanks Astrohog. I called them and it will not fit the RCGF.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

Thanks Bill. Your input is very much appreciated. I think I can make the 1" material from B&B work.

    Fabricating Flexible Headers

I have been unable to locate a pair of flexible headers for my RCGF 40cc Twin and it appears I will have to fabricate them myself. I am using the engine in my Byrons Originals Pitts and I don't want to cut holes in the cowl. I also want the exhaust to exit in the scale location at the bottom...
