    Scale Byrons Originals Pitts Special

    Found a bargain priced Byrons Pitts a few months ago and am nearing completion. Covered with Econokote, power is an RCGF 40cc Twin. I am only using the bottom 2 ailerons which makes it a S1-C Model or as it is sometimes referred to as a "flatwing" Pitts.

    Now that I have a number of flights on the T-craft, I decided to begin adding a few more scale details to more closely replicate the full scale. Cowl painting tomorrow evening weather permitting.

    Thanks camss69. Nothing like the thrill of that first flight of something that you built from scratch. We are very lucky to have such a great flying field. 850 foot runway.

    Well after a very long time I finally got to maiden my Taylorcraft. It flies beautifully. Very gentle and predictable. A fellow club member did the maiden flight. The video with the smoke on was my first flight. What an awesome airplane!!!!

    OK, I can finally say it. IT'S FINISHED!!!!! 6 months of effort, sometimes frustrating, sometimes puzzling but always satisfying. I didn't keep a log of my hours but I am certain it is well into the hundreds. Next step will be the first engine start and seeing what vibrates loose.

    Getting down to the final details. All that's left is painting the details on the cowl and wheel pants getting the servos dialed in.

    OK this is where I am at since I began construction in late September of 2014. Getting down to the final stages. Most but not all of radio equipment is installed. Still need to finish painting and detailing some parts as well as finishing the fuel and smoke system installation.

    It's a Slipstream RV-8 ARF. Really nice flyer with flaps. Very difficult to find. I have another one just like it NIB.
