    IMAC hobby getting expensive

In 1975 I worked for Pro-Line making transmitters. Our top of the line 7-channel radio with ONE dual rate and nothing else was $750. In today dollars that would be $3,326 today for less radio than the cheapest 4-channel out there. Gas was a buck a gallon too!!

    Prop bolts....what's the consensus?

That is exactly what I use. Cheap insurance to remove any doubt that things are properly torqued down.

    Prop bolts....what's the consensus?

I am a simple guy. Most engine makers publish prop bolt torque, so that's what I use. Seems to work for me. YMMV

    Prop bolts....what's the consensus?

You likely have a calibrated touch!! But to be clear, I am not saying that unevenly tightened/torqued bolts ALWAYS fail, but in general, failed bolts are very often not properly and evenly tightened.

    Show us your Scale Planes

Not around here. We have a pretty large warbird group and I do not recall seeing any of them on anything other than 2.4.

    Prop bolts....what's the consensus?

One thing I advocate is to use a torque wrench on prop bolts and to check them before each day's flying. Properly torqued bolts will go a long way to avoiding issues that loose bolts can cause. No matter what bolt hardness you are using, improperly/unevenly tightened (torqued) bolts which loosen...

    DLA Engines

I've got to say, I am no fan of running engines on the ground. Start it, make sure it runs, then fly it.

    Futaba 18MZ/14SG/8FG Tips and Tricks

The radio is not going to "recognize" the change. On the 18MZ you have to go into a menu to tell the radio that the switch type has changed. I strongly suggest that you not mess with the switches. What switches are you wanting to swap around??

So just how does Aero-Tow Soaring work?

I actually find soaring to be the greatest challenge in RC. It is just you, the airplane and your ability to find and fly in lift. It looks easy until you do it. For me there is nothing more satisfying than being in a contest and scratching to make your time and then catching a low thermal while...

    Is expo really needed.

Too much expo is a common mistake. It gives a very dead feeling around center and then a sudden influx of throw when you hit the "knee" in the curve. I use just enough to take the "twitch" out around center.

    Futaba R7018SB Receiver

Very curious. What wires were you moving? Also, what servos are you using? One other thing, the HS mode really does not gain any perceptible advantage for airplanes. It was designed for in your face 3D heli flying. The lower latency does not make you system faster per se. What is does is lets...

Need your help fellows - fighting elevator on final

FWIW, While I use a touch of down elevator mixed to low throttle for flying, I turn that mix off for landing. I am constantly adjusting the throttle while landing and I do not like the change in elevator trim that causes when the mix is on. Properly done, a stable landing approach will require...
