Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

Personally I use a product called Zeal Gel under my packs. Lipo are among the most fragile cells and this stuff is tops at isolating vibration. It weighs very little so why not use it?? I use velcro between the gel pad and the packs so I an remove them and put a velcro strap around to hold...

    Futaba 18SZ

Cool. Let us know how you like it. We here in the US will have to wait for the FCC to do their thing with it before we can get it. :(

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

It would be very strange to see a lipo with a 6C discharge rating. 15C for a RX pack is pretty standard. Regardless, with a 2 pack set up at 6C loading I can still handle 30 amps total. On my 50cc plane that is not a likely scenario. If I was using Pulse packs in a larger plane I would use...

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

The packs I am using are rated at 1C charge and 15C discharge. See the attached image I just snagged off the pulse site.

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

I'm using Pulse 2,550 mAh lipos in my 50cc Extra. I use two packs through two switches into the RX. These are either 15C or 25C cells. At 15C they will deliver full voltage at up to 38 load. Since parallel packs halve the load I can actually pull 76 amps with no issues. I sincerely doubt that...

    DLA Engines

Sorry, late night typing. I meant the ignition module versus the plugs. My module is a black box, doesn't look any more cheesy than any other ignition module I've seen or used. Mine seems to work fine with the iridium plugs. I may try with a normal NGK just to see if I can feel any differences.

I'm wondering if your issue was the ignition and not the module. Did you try the plugs with the new module?? FWIW I have 3 gallons through my 58 running the iridium plug. No issues at all.

I think he is referring to the new Futaba R7018SB receiver. http://rcmplanes.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/7018.jpg

I guess I wonder what the advantage of a 4-cylinder 128 cc motor is supposed to be. Smoother operation? Certainly less power per pound of motor, or is that wrong??

    Powerbox or Powersafe receiver

Me too!! It does what I want, provides two BIG wires feeding power INTO the RX. That is always the choke point. Once going to servos each lead can handle the load for a servo. But power in is the key!! I also like not having a mechanical switch in the power line. I've gone to mostly all...

    Powerbox or Powersafe receiver

Not sure of the specs on the new Futaba RX, but from what I have seen I want one!! A full 18 wired servo portsPLUS S.Bus, PLUS two huge power leads, AND it is a FASSTest telemetry RX (which means you will need a 14SG/18MZ/18SZ to use it).. All RX/servo power is fed directly into the RX. The...

Honestly I have no idea. I have never been big on measuring RPM on the ground. I go by how a prop feels and performs in the air. With the 22x10 the plane was fast when level with speed a bit hard to accurately control. Uplines were would start OK and then bleed off quickly. With the 23x10 the...

    DLA Engines

I've got a little over a gallon through the DLA-58 on my AW Extra 300. Swapped the 22x10 that was on it for a 23x10, which I like a lot better. Idle is good and reliable and it pulls the little beast along right spritely. Not much can be asked for out of an engine. So far, so good. BTW - Lee is...

slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

TPG has a new thermal flying field located in Encinitas on top of a closed landfill. For reasons I cannot explain, I always fly like garbage there:dancing-poop:

You can "glide" anywhere!! But you need at least a small hill (or thermals) if you want to SOAR

slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

Holy crap. I had an SOS and flew at Kite Hill. I did not start flying there until late 91, but what a fun time. You would not recognize the place now. All built up across Alicia and Kite Hill is a small electrics place now more than slope. They even have a runway painted in the parking lot...

slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

Used to do a lot of sloping. Nothing beats a late summer afternoon tooling back and forth at Torrey Pines with a big scale ship!! We've lost a lot of our better slopes to homes out here, but there are still some great places to go. Too many things to play with and not enough time or I'd do more...
