Need your help fellows - fighting elevator on final

They call for it upright at the wingtips in the manual. I did that initially but it was really sensitive. For example, if I moved a 1/8 of an inch in the range, forward or aft, the effect would be tail or nose heavy. Very inconsistent. To try and confirm my balance point using that method, I...

Thanks, Terry. I'll take the measurements today and send them to you via a PM. I was thinking of using the three scale under the wheels method to verify the CG, I'll wait on that until I hear back from you. Look out for the PM.

Need your help fellows - fighting elevator on final

I'm worried about killing the motor on final, I've had to go around on a few of the flights. The plane does slow down but does not seem to descend unless I push on the elevator.

Judge, That's actually a great question. I currently have the idle set high, specifically since the motor is new and I'm putting the initial tanks through it, I'm still feeling it out. Plus my field is all grass, so a low idle isn't really that necessary, as it would be on a paved runway...

Terry, I can easily add a nut onto the threaded rod/stud and lock down the clevis. If there is any slop there, it would be very minimal and only left/right. I'll look to see if I can find a nylon nut to use, to keep the weight down. sc

Thanks, Pistolera. I'll check the down-line (no throttle) and see what she does, I'll admit, I have not tried that. I have a laundry list of items to check the next time I go out. sc

Hi Judge, Thanks for the reply, this is excellent as it basically confirms the characteristics of the plane. I have installed a lot of motor for the airframe, I could also be experiencing a side effect of loads of torque made available by the 120. sc

Here you go Terry. I was only able to take shots of the left stab-half, as I can only leave installed the one side in the trailer. Let me know what you see. Regards, sc

Thank you, Terry. I was hoping you'd make a comment, I appreciate it. I probably should have mentioned this in the original post, but I have a bit of a trim anomaly as well. I feel I need to adjust trim a click or two at different throttle levels, it is not drastic, but not 100% consistent...

Hello aarestor, thank you for the reply. I'll certainly try that to determine if up thrust is needed, what if it coasts w/out any or much climbing?

I finally got the Cap in the air, it's been a while, I know. I'm slow when preparing a plane and have been traveling a lot for work. I have a couple questions, I am hoping the knowledge on the site could help me solve a nagging issue. I hope you don't mind and I'm looking for any and all...

    For Sale H9 3.1m sukhoi

I like your plane, were you able to take any other pics? Pictures of the install would be helpful, the fuse and cowl area specifically. I assume there hasn't been any mishaps? Such as damaging hard landings, repairs of any kinds etc..? Also, I am a Futaba flyer. Are you willing to part out...

    3D Splitting Cowls made easy

I'm wondering what the weight penalty between a one piece and a split cowl would be? Weight of; resin, cloth, screws, washers, blind nuts, ply-tabs, etc... I'm sure a few grams maybe? I'm the first to admit my last plane has some extra weight which I could have saved on, but simply curious.

Will drilling a hole in carbon tubes weaken them?

Thank you for the reply. Did the blind nuts go inside the tube in wood or directly into the carbon tube? Have a picture by chance? My hole positions would be pretty far in on the tubes, that's what's worrying me.
