    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

ok, Initial attempt at CG, the range is from 4.5" to 5.75" from the leading edge of the wing tip. Front most position (4.5) appears to be tail heavy, middle of the range (4.75) is nose heavy. The balance appears to be very sensitive to minor changes in position within the range. I took some...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

I'm trying to live the dream Hoosier, it's taken me a while. I'm certainly excited. I was in awe when I originally brought it home, I think the impression it left on me was the reason I could never let it go. We moved a couple time too.

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

terry, the cowl took a couple hours of trial and grind, trial and grind trial and grind. And a lot of sanding of the edges to make it clean. I think I need to cut a hole for the carb to breath.

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

I bought it before I started having kids, it took a backseat to wedding. When my wife was pregnant with my first child, she's 8 now, I stopped flying completely and kept it in the box in the garage. So I've been waiting to put it together for a long time, close to 10 years. There is some...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

ok guys, Some of you have seen some pics of this assembly in general discussion, I figured I'd contribute to the forum and add a build thread. I'm a CAP lover so here I am, building an old school CAP with current gen hardware. Most of the assembly is complete. I got the spinner today. I...

Optimal throttle servo placement for a linear movement/motion

Hi guys, Installing a throttle servo and figured I'd put a post out there to gather your thoughts before I epoxy it in. I made a servo mount to place the servo arm orientated exactly 180 degrees from the throttle arm, up(servo) vs down(throttle). The mount would lay the servo on it's side so...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

That was just a mock up to check alignment and fit, i did not thread the aluminum braces. I took it all apart after and epoxied the box. I have nylon locknuts for the screws which I'll use during final install. I don't like to thread nylon nuts too many times, I feel like the nylon has the...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

Thanks Terry. It's not as nice as the kits you're building, but I appreciate the compliment. Do you think I went a bit overboard on the socket head screws on the front with (5)? When I pulled them all out to seal the motor box they seemed pretty heavy. I don't have my scale working so I...

    Onboard Electronics Design Schematic

Hello, I'm not sure how many of you prepare a drawing of your onboard electronics when planning a new model. I typically lay it all out in a visio or ppt and go through all of the models requirements. Then I begin to plan redundancy and failure avoidance. I'm posting mine up, I'm curious to...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

Hi Reyn, Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. I'll leave it to the experts to answer your question, definitely a good one. Regarding the resin and CF, once I get everything mocked up I intend to coat everything in a 50/50 or perhaps 70/30 mix of resin/alcohol to seal it all with a...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

one more data point, the new ignitions from DA are pretty small, the ibec is a small circuit board and the batteries are (2) 2c Lipos 2800mah. they are very light and compact.

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback, I think I just woke up from a Turkey comma. :) The rationale behind placing the batteries, ignition and ibec in the motor box is the well known fact stated above. The model was originally designed with a heavier motor in mind, the use of the DA100 has proven...
