    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

ok boys, Remember, I don't solder everyday, go easy on me. Here goes... BAM!!! DA-120 Ignition connector soldered to IBEC= Done... I feel pretty good I'll get decent current flow and it should not come apart... This may seem trivial, but I assure you, there are folks out there that open...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

It looks great, and I'm excited about it being a CAP. Looking forward to seeing how it ends up, and your assessment of how it flys. The ARF I'm assembling now is my 4th CAP, I love them. I'm a Sukhoi fan too, I've had 2. I've owed an Extra260 and Edge540, but I feel the CAP just has a...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Thanks Dimes, again, I bought this plane 8+ years ago when I was beginning to make the move up from 1/4 scale. That was big at my fielding field then. It's been a long road for me, just getting my old plane back in service this year and flying for the first time in years was a blast. I was...

Oh boy.... I don't think I could take the humiliation. But it would be funny though.

Optimal throttle servo placement for a linear movement/motion

I think the geometry would be very linear as it's laid out. I think of it this way, I could be wrong, but I see it as 2 gears of the same size. If one gear turns to the right and you had a dot at the top of the gear, it would roll to the right and down. The adjacent gear would begin to turn...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Me too jaybird, I'm getting anxious to transition to ground running. Guys, Made some progress tonight, I finished some of the detail in the cockpit and glued on the canopy. I'm going to jump onto the engine again tomorrow. Planning on finalizing the install of the ignition and IBE, then...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

I installed the tank low in the tank bay, simply added some basswood and used velco traps to hold it in. It is low in secure from forward/back/side to side movement. But did not leave any room for pipes or canisters or mid-section hot air venting. I'll have to create vents in the rear of the...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

thanks buddy, you can't foresee or avoid all setbacks. so you try and limit as many as possibly and take the time to address the ones that come up.

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

hello fellas, I ran into a bit of a snag, I accidentally dropped the plane onto the stand when I was checking CG and it crushed the canopy hatch. sux'd.... It wasn't too bad though, I did go ahead and decide to pull the covering back, fill it, sand it, and re-cover it. Came out better than...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Update: Added two shelves to secure the batteries and receivers, power gear, magnetic switch, etc... I'll post what the shelves final look will be when they're done, I need to wire it up. I need to recheck the CG, I suspect it's going to be tail heavy, as I did not take into consideration...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Terry, thanks for the feedback. I installed my tank low in the fuse behind F1, so I don't have the empty space to open a tunnel or exit for hot air. I'm going to have to divert it out the back of the cowl. I think I'm going to try and draw some vents on the center section of the cowl between...

Not a problem at all, it was a good time. Those rollers gave everyone a hard time, it's all in good fun.

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Nutley is like ten minutes from me, just down 46. Milford is about an hour from me, I fly at black dirt almost exclusively. It's like a slice of heaven to me. I'm also a member at BCMA in Leonia and Wayne flyers, I don't fly there much though. They're closer than BD but there is no...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

thanks jaybird, I appreciate the feedback. There isn't a lot of meat left in the area to cut a large half moon and not join the two main slots. I'll have to think of how to pull it off without compromising the lower cowl area.

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

Thanks Earle, btw - excellent flying at the black dirt NE regional finals this year. I helped tally the scores. The pirate on the raven looked awesome... hi terry, you're right. I think I also need to cut an air inlet for the carb, it's about .5" from the surface of the cowl. seems close...

    3D H9 1/3 Cap 232 - Blast from the past!!!

thank guys, I tried both right side up and inverted. It looks like I need to move my batteries back. Wondering how much weight all the fasteners on the firewall might added, mighthave made a difference.
