    Sport New Year's Resolution Decathlon

I finished my ski's for this plane. I'm heading to Arnprior on the 10th to fly with some new friends. I used a new landing gear from my Beast as it was taller than the one I used for the wheels. This gives me extra ground clearance in case the snow is deep. The ski's are made from aluminum and...

Joe Nall Week 2016, May 7-14

I'll be there BUT unless the FAA fixes their web site foreigners cannot fly as we cannot get an FAA number. 6 years in a row for me, and it's only 1006 miles one way.

Joe Nall 2016, Official Noise Policy?

Coming home from Joe Nall on the last Saturday, I stopped at the gas station just as I entered Woodruff to fill up. I have a trailer to pull my planes with aircraft on the side. As I went in to pay the clerk said to me "Are you one of those damn airplane flyers" I said yes. She said "I glad...

I was asked how do I attach the aerilons and flaps. "Was I using Y connectors". I run each servo on its own separate channel. This plane uses a lot of channels. Here is the list 1:- Throttle 2:- Right Aerilon 3:- Left Aerilon 4:- Right Flap 5:- Left Flap 6:- Right Elevator 7:- Left Elevator...

    Sport New Year's Resolution Decathlon

I was asked what the muffler looks like. There was not much room width wise but more than ample for the length. The front corner was angled to fit the cowl. I also forgot to mention that I installed lights in the wing and a landing light in the cowl.

Lastly I upgraded the landing gear to one from SDS Hobbies. It's an inch taller and 2 1/2 inches wider so that it will do my touch and goes a little easier. I also increased the wheel size by an inch for the rough strips that we sometimes fly off of.

This plane has a EME 60 with Auto Start. It's a blast to nonchalantly stand behind your stabs and have the engine suddenly start up. Wakes up those who are not in the "know". The pilot is mounted on a sub floor that is held in place with small super strong magnets. It's a breeze to remove the...

    Sport New Year's Resolution Decathlon

To make it "Noise Friendly" I'm using a Custom made muffler made for me by Lance at Bisson Mufflers. I made a blue foam block to get the "EXACT" fit and he made the extra baffled muffler to the blue foam dimensions. It has a low purring sound.

Here are more pictures of the colour scheme I chose. Unfortunately the yellow colour doesn't come out well when the pictures are taken from inside using a flash.

    Sport New Year's Resolution Decathlon

My New Years resolution was to repair the damage to my 28% 107 inch Decathlon that I damaged last summer. I was doing "Touch & Go's" and on my last approach the side wind caught the far wing and pushed the inboard wheel into the ground quite hard. It ripped the gear out and cracked the rudder...

BOTTOM WING I got sidetracked fixing my Decathlon that I ripped the landing gear out of. I'll post it on another thread. Anyway here is what the bottom wing looks like. I'm also showing what the bottom of the Elevator looks like so you can see my "Design Concept" (Ha Ha).

How about we both meet at Joe Nall and YOU can fly it there! This is one of three new planes I want to bring to Joe Nall. The other big plane is a Harvard 1/3 scale with a Moki 250. It's painted exactly like the bottom one. It's about 95% finished but I ran out of energy to get it done last...

Up here it is still quite warm! It got up to 41F. We are expecting a green Xmas. Georgian Bay shows no sign of ice, usually it's covered over by now. Unfortunately my flying won't start until I get to Joe Nall in May.
