    Scale Plans built P-51

Little different perspective. That's 99 inches, that's 8' 3" of balsa and plywood, every piece hand cut. Not everything fits perfectly, but then that's just part of it. I love scratch building when I'm done!!

    Scale Plans built P-51

Here's a quick picture of my current status. Spar webs have been added, LE & TE reinforcements, and wing hold down sections have been built.

    Scale Plans built P-51

I was reading about the original Nosen P-51 and I find it incredible that the recommended engine for this plane was a .60 size glow engine with a gear reduction drive. What a challenge it must've been to be successful with that combination. Puts me awe of the guys who were!!

    Scale Plans built P-51

I've been working on the wing a lot lately trying to get it ready to mount to the fuse. So far I've installed 62-63 spar webs, the dihedral braces and put the 2 panels together. I've cut out for the retract supports and should be ready to fit those tonight. Without the wing tips, the measured...

Reza has been here for a week and he's already giving stuff away! RED LINE OIL!

I think it's awesome that a company gave away products and promotions without it being at some big event. Like I said before, I support those who support us!!

    DLE 85

My test stand is 3/4 inch plywood reinforced with a back piece and side braces. It's bolted to a steel tool stand that probably weighs 45-50 punds. That engine will turn it over at half throttle. The last time we ran it to set the needles and take readings, I used cargo straps attached to a...

    DLE 85

The 6400 rpm on my DLE 85 is all the power I think my P-51 can handle. After running it on the test stand, I'm going back and adding some triangle stock to the firewall.

    DLE 85

It may be the difference between the 26 and 27 inch props. I could easily get 6400 and it would hold that speed consistently. But, I also installed a Bowman ring before I ever turned it over.

    DLE 85

I didn't have any issues with the carb leaking. But, at 5 turns out, I coudnt get it to load up.

I'm using a valley view 26x10 wood prop.

    Scale Plans built P-51

I worked on the left wing panel until after midnight last night and finished up enough of it to be able to take it off the building board. LE and TE are installed and contoured to the rib shape. Note to self - cut the servo wire access holes before gluing ribs in place

    DLE 85

I got a chance to run the DLE 85 this afternoon and take a few readings. Here's what I got using a 26x10 wood prop. Low end needle was set to 1 1/4 turns out from the stops. Wound up being about 1 1/8. At this setting we were able to get a pretty consistent idle around 1480 - 1500. It would...
