Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Whew hoo! Got the photos of my graphics that will be on the 330. Holy crap.. talk about eye candy. There are a couple of modifications to the wings that need to be done. And a quick color change for the cowl sides logos. But for the most part, everything else looks complete full on bad ass. Who...

    3W low end question

Just a couple of things for you to consider. First, though AI rebuilt the carb not long ago that won't eliminate the possibility of potential problems arising. I've never seen a 3w not idle consistently when dialed in properly. My 157cs is headed into her sixth season without the needles ever...

Thanks bro. If I can only have the same results with the paint and then the clear... oh what a glorious journey it will have been.

Ok, a couple more before I go. Because I've learned a very hard lesson about leaving masking tape on plastic too long... I have removed the masking paper and tape. Now... I will let the canopy cure. Darn near perfect guys...

Well, here we go. I'm going to "attempt" priming the canopy tonight. Wish me luck fellas. (I'll need all the luck I can get!) Before masking the canopy, I wet sanded the canopy with 400 then 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Masked off and ready to shoot. After the first shot of primer...

Wow! I stand corrected! I remembered immediately Kelly once seeing the photo you posted. And as for the one Doug posted... um, duh!!! Now I feel pretty stupid. I honestly could not remember any green Pilot schemes on the 330. But once seeing them, it's like... der!!! So would it be safe to...

That is what my thoughts have been. But very perplexing as it is, I have never seen a Pilot RC Extra 330sc in any green schemes. I have been thinking that there was an error in the factory and someone mistook it for an Edge canopy. Either way, very mysterious. I may... contact Tony for a new...

Good Friday morning everyone. It is a beautiful day here in the valley. Bright warm sun climbing higher in the crystal clear blue skies. This is apparently a day for flying. A powered hang glider flies over head while from a different direction a Piper Cub putt putts along a different course...

Oh my!!! They say if you play with fire, you're likely to get burnt. Hmmm, red headed woman. Yup, gonna get burnt. Oh well, what a way to be reduced to ashes!

I'm always looking for ways to make things easier. Nothing is more irritating than something that won't hold still while you take its...um, covering off. Yes, that's it. Covering. Anyway, I dug out a few servo boxes filled with buckshot that I use for holding things down. Hey, what do you know...

Tonight I am going to spend some time removing the covering on the canopy and start sanding the old paint off. I had a question or two for Richard at Wings West so I gave him a call on my way home from work. He is just the nicest and most informative guy. As I had figured, his recommendation is...

Last little bit of tinkering on the 330 tonight involved cleaning up and finishing the trim in the motor box area. I must say it looks pretty nice. I still need to add a black plug to each side of the motor box where the previous owner had the DA spark plug leads coming through. I am also...

Tanaka 220, Sthil 226, Echo 225? Sooo... these are 4 bangers, right? How do they compare to the 3w220, DLE222 and DA 200? What size prop will they turn?
