Ok... I'll let the cat outta the bag. The story goes something like this. I say something because I'm old and over worked and... not enough red heads. I may forget a detail or two. So last night I started sanding on the 330 cowl. It didn't take me no time at all to realize...sanding sucks...

Oh, by the way... I have so missed the target weight by about a million miles. So far it is stacking up to come in at or about 42 pounds. I don't know what made me think I could get it in under what the 260 was. Especially since the biggest majority of components came over from the 260. But on...

And the madness continues. I started sanding the cowl tonight and a bittersweet recollection occured. Though I am fond of Tony and all of Pilot RC, I can't like the clear coat he has adopted for his finishes. I bet each of you a hundred dollar bill, (not really, just coining a phrase) that a guy...

Actually, I was thinking the same thing last night. I think I will remove it. I did not realize at the time the graphic influence that is exhibited by that photo. I'm just very thankful that Kelly is okay and didn't suffer any kind of a serious accident like that photo.

Sadly, it is/was a Chevrolet Silverado. Don't quote me, but I believe '09.

That is pretty much how I understood it. Richard at Wings West instructed me last year with the Pitts to determine the color with coats. Once the close color is achieved, leave it be until the clear coat. Once the clear is on, it will bring the final color into contrast. I know next to nothing...

Meanwhile, back at the Epley hangar and the Pilot RC Extra 330sc recover and restoration project. Time to get sanding on that cowl.

Yikes, first time I saw this photo, I didn't see it. Now I do. Blood dripping out the forward area of the door down to the painted white stripe on the road. Yuk... rather goolish.

Nope, no sanding the green. According to Wings West RC, they said leave it alone until it's ready to be clear coated. So leave it alone I shall!

Dang Kelly... you ok? The Toy can be repaired, you maybe not so much. Sorry about your accident. Maybe we can just buy lots of rattle can paint and make the Toy look new again?!?!

Thank you Doug. I hope one of these days I will stop myself when I see a plane that, "Oh, I just gotta have that." "I can recover it in a custom scheme and paint it to match and.....". LOL.... The end result usually makes all the effort worth it. But my friend, I am not so sure I would like to...

It looks as though I have become a painter. LOL. I have now gotten past phase two of this mind twisting endeavor of painting. First phase of getting the canopy prepped and primed. That came off great. Second phase of getting the canopy green. Hmm.... I think I quite like this stuff. It makes me...

So my friends, here is the final draft. Of course the front side of the cowl paint will be white where the 3w emblem will go. But y'all should get the idea. Damn... I like.

I appreciate your input. I actually noticed that very thing straight off last night. But I am not too concerned about it as this is only just pictures. When he actually cuts them from the same color of vinyl that matches the covering, I am sure that it will look really good. Otherwise, yes I...
