Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Hey Snoops... "c"/"e" clip... all the same to me. If they don't make a complete circle they usually get what ever name I choose to call them. Lol. Seriously, the axles come pre-drilled and tapped when you get them. One of the reasons I have gone specifically to them over any other axle. The...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

I made really good progress tonight. Located the correct size plugs for the side of the motor box and secured the Airman wheels with a retaining bolt. I've heard the White Rose axles with the "C" clips have a tendency to self launch when you least expect it. I've heard of many guys losing their...

First test fit of my newly custom cut by Shay-mess 330 cowl. It's perfect and fits like a pair of painted on blue jeans on a hard bodied red head. Yeah, dang sexy too. I even got the exhaust outlets roughed in, choke rod hole drilled aaaaannnnd, intended vent holes penned onto the bottom shell...

I have bought a number of replacement sets of gear. Strange though... I can't honestly remember if they've been pre-drilled or not. Lol...wow. Great memory huh? I'm leaning to being pre-drilled because if I had any heartburn over having to drill them, I would probably remember having to do so. I...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

Guess who made a few laps today? That would be yours truly and a certain red head powered Pilot Edge. Got out before it got too hot. Just loving that lil ole 106cs. A bit breezy and I haven't flown the girl in a while so I didn't get her too close to the ground. Maybe within a foot of the runway...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Thanks everyone. Don't really understand if it's due to not getting to fly as much lately, or working or maybe it's just the plane. But I do know I am really more excited to have this one ready to maiden than normal. Maybe it's the fact I've not been out with my favorite red head, (well, one of...

Hey everyone. Been a few days since my last update and since I have a little steam left, I will try to bring you all up to speed. My son worked day after day (as time permitted) to get that cowl for the 330 sanded and split. He was able to get it all pretty much primer ready this after noon...

Seriously speaking Kelly, I am really wishing you the best on the new 72. I am thinking that plane is going to be like the Apollo 13 style launch and break away gravity power.

That all sounds fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. There was one other question that I had if you don't mind. What do you feel the anticipated all up weight will be?

    1/4 scale P40 Warhawk

Ok, this I like. So what cost deffriniation would there be for foam core vs. build up? Also, you mention pneumatic or electric gear by Robart. Will any other manufacturers compliment the gear fitment? Or would modifications need to be preformed?

    1/4 scale P40 Warhawk

It is completely likely I will order one. However, I am not much of a foam core wing guy. I would need a price for the build up wings. Shipping cost would also be appreciated. (83642) And, I would really like to see the quality of a prototype or already assembled airframe. Detail, construction...

So I think it is only proper and fitting my son explain the steps he has done to mark and split my cowl for the 330, do not you all agree? He has done an amazing job so far. He should be splitting it tomorrow. But for now a couple of quick pics of his progress. Can't wait to see it split...
