The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yep, everyone has to have their time in the barrel! Between swim meets and baseball for my two boys, I am rarely home. It's always an after bedtime trip for me to the shop.

Wired up two server power supplies for a 1100 W power supply at 24v output for this new thing! Had to make one a floating ground first. Always fun in the shop! BTW, the EF 60" Extra on 6S is amazing!

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Thanks. You inspired me! Your build looks amazing. As you can see I am getting closer to covering. I am very eager to hear of your covering techniques. I am changing to monokote (vs. ultracote) due to cost and availability of paint matching. Regardless, still very wet-behind-the-ears when it...

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

It has been a while but... here is what I did for a drill jig for the robart hinges. I got lazy and took some 1/4" aluminum bar stock and stuck them in the mill. Just had to line up the centerline of the holes and I indexed one end of the bar to ensure my holes started in the correct place for...

Awesome! Here is my take on the lighting - IMHO you can't have too much (within reason), and as my eyes get older (I am 44), I need more and more light. What I thought was plenty a few years ago - not so much today. Suggest putting them on different switches/zones to provide what you need when...

    Bowman rings....Gone!

FWIW. A guy I boat raced against once told me.... Talking about rings he said "the ring end gap is like a keyhole, have you ever taken a five gallon bucket of water and through it at a keyhole? How much water do you think actually gets through, not much." LOL. I would still check the end gap on...

    Bowman rings....Gone!

needle files work fine. Depending on the end conditions of the ring, might be round or flat style - or both.

    Bowman rings....Gone!

Slip the ring in the cylinder, sans piston, and use a feeler gage (you can use the base of the piston to push it in to ensure it is square). Just make sure you use the point in the cylinder that is the smallest!

If it is not too much trouble, would love to see pics of the process you use on the 33% edge as well. On the mojo60 - would you go with glow or electric? Had a little mojo25 that ended its life short after meeting a tree....Lol Fun!
