Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Looks like the 85 will fit inside the cowl, once the Champ is finished up I'll study the Super Cub and determine what I'm doing, petty sure I will parting with the 3w 56 CS.

I did find that Johnson mufflers were sold by AI, they have 1 muffler listed. On another search I found that they are out of business and this guys mufflers for the 56 twin were leaking. It has been a while since I looked at them but from what I remember the mufflers were nice, they are little...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

When I purchased the engine some time ago there was some discussion about hesitation with the 4 strokes and the need of an electric fuel pump. Everything works as intended on the Roto from I can tell so far. The fuel tank is about 4" below the carb, after choking and flipping I pulled the fuel...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I do like it, I'm thinking I might just finish off that Super Cub with one. The plane was built using a 3W 56 CS engine, never ran, just might sell it and buy another Roto 85. Need to check the cowl size, the 3W fit in just fine. Back to work on the Champ, enough of this playing around with...

Check it out . I don't know, wonder what a reasonable cylinder head temp might be? Easy to change if need be. I emailed Roto and got no response some time ago.

Before painting the fuselage the weight 36 pounds and the CG was 6 5/8"back from leading edge. Weighted the finished plane today and it came in at 39.8 pounds and the CG is now 6 3/4" behind the leading edge, this results in a static margin of 6%, I'm good with it. Based on the weight an wing...

Spent the better part of the day messing with telemetry. I want to measure three temperatures, each cylinder and the ignition module, According to the instructions the ignition shuts down at 140F, wonder who came up with that scheme? Every device I came across does 2 temperatures. I found...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

When I did Monokote over glass many years ago I stated in the middle and used stretch rather than shrink, iron heat turned all the way up, two people may help tugging on the covering. It works with Monokote I know, at the time was told that Ultrakote did not work as well. Ironically Ultrakote...

Added details to the cowl. Air cleaner. Used element from a B&S mower filter. I looked at many photos on Airliners.net and couldn't decide how to make the filter, finally Googled the replacement part and came up with this photo.

I converted my first fixture over with tubes. When I found the Honeywell fixtures at Sam's club they were cheaper than my conversion so I pitched all my fixtures, I don't think those tubes will work in the current fixtures. Thank you for the info. The icing has already started this morning.

Well my wife's arm is back together and I did manage to sneak in a little work between ice bag changes. The seats are OK but I still looking for other ways to do this. I may wet sand again and apply more paint. It will work until something better comes along. My lighting is poor because...

Put a coat of semi gloss black on the frames and a slighter darker gray on the seat cushions. I plan to wet sand and shot the cushions again, I think they will look fine.

Spent some time on the seats today. I got the seat from i Fly Tallies but it just doesn't match the decor of the Champ so I will use it on a future project. I added the cross straps on the seat frames. The tin came from a gallon of WD40, nice and thin, sharp as a razor! The seat cushions...
