The only changes are the sheeting thickness and spar size and material. It has been a while but I'm pretty sure I used 3/8" spruce for the Hurley spars and 3/32" balsa sheeting. Here are a few photos from the Extra 200 build.

    Mike Hurley Extra

I built the Hurley Extra longer before I began posting builds, I have made many other foam rib builds along the way. You can find one here https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit-building-121/9582545-one-design-build-2.html

    Prop balancing

I use clear spray paint for balancing. Takes a while for the paint to flash off but no big deal, three blades are no different than two blades.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Never knew what DLG stood for, not many glider guys in the area. Seen one two weeks ago and was amazed.

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

Short kit came today but so did my gas logs and burner. I need to finish the remodeling work first, the logs were ordered on 3/4/21 arrived 6/21/21! Of course they blamed CoVid, society latest excuse for not getting work done. National Balsa got my short kit to me in less than a week!

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

A before and after. I salvaged these drawers from a friend's daughter's basement, they are Lyon brand and I expect pretty old, works great for me. The drawer sixe is 36" x 24" x 2 3/4" and open the whole way, industrial stuff from a storeroom I suspect. I can get all my tooling and measuring...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Second fight today, 2 1/2 pounds nose weight, aileron differential. Not a good flying day, 90 degree cross wind. Not feeling the love yet, made one rectangle circuit and landed. Better than last week but still a long way to go. Doesn't like cross wind for sure.

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

Been thinking about the construction details. Hoping this plane will be an everyday flyer much like the original. My current line of thinking of course subject to change is as follows; Wings will be foam rib construction with wing tube rather than the box spar design. The 25% scale version...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

Was doing a little web surfing this morning and ended up at the Williams Brothers site, they have hit some bad times and looks like everything on their store is backordered. This resulted in more searches and finally I remembered that I had bought a 30% scale Life Like pilot figure for Byron...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Thanks Mark and welcome aboard. There is no differential in the ailerons but that's easy to do. The service manual indicates 28 degrees up and 18 down, sounds like a good starting point. If I can't get it to fly any better it will go on display! Hoping the 2 1/2 pounds helps.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

The cord is 20" so 25% is 5". With the added weight the cg is 5 3/4" or 28.7%. I've flown tail heavy planes where when rolled inverted the plane climbed at a 45 degree angle and pushing down elevator to land, still had control. Of course this was an aerobatic plane with airfoil stabilizer...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Made new engine standoffs from 5/8" steel round bar, each one is 2 ounces heavier than the aluminum version. Added 12 ounces of shot to the cowl and made two 8 ounce pucks from epoxy and shot formed in a 4 ounce applesauce container. I save the containers as my grandsons eat the applesauce...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Got some #8 lead shot from by brother, going to mix some with epoxy and milled glass and coat the inside of the cowl. Then made a few weights to screw to the fire wall. I'm thinking about 8 ounces on the cowl and another 2 pounds on the firewall. The plane was uncontrollable and quite happy...
