Toledo / Weak Signals Show - Pre/post show chatter

It looks like I'm going to this event. Anyone else from the gang who's going? Anyone in the NY/NJ/PA area who'd like a ride?

    advantage of composite RC plane?

One advantage is that composites are "dead" materials, i.e. they're not affected by temperature and humidity the way a wood-based plane is. No matter how well you build a balsa plane, weather is going to change it. Just look at the covering of your planes and the way it wrinkles as the weather...

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

I just got an MPI 3" spinner for my 72" Extra. Looks great, but the center bolt is 4mm and my PTE36 (and reportedly also the DLE30) wants a 5mm bolt, so some surgery is probably needed. :(

55" EPP/Plywood/Carbon fiber Hybrid Yak 54 coming from Skywing

I'm flying my 58" Edge on 4000mAh 4s, and while the performance isn't ballistic, it gets the job done. The thing you have to watch out for with 4s is the current. Make sure your batteries have enough "C" and your ESC can handle the current. Also, your flight times will probably be shorter, as...

    New Here? Introduce yourself!

Welcome to the site, Tom! It's not a Slick (but an Extra), but have you seen this? http://www.3drcforums.com/showthread.php?1008-3DHS-72-Extra I just built one that I haven't had a chance to fly yet, but in theory it should be a great plane for dialling down the throws and cruising around...

WRAM 2013: 3DRCF Event Coverage and Member Experiences!

I've always wanted to go to SEFF, but it's really out of the way for me and I've been hearing rumors it's not going to be that great this year...

WRAM 2013: 3DRCF Event Coverage and Member Experiences!

You brought up a concern you had and the appropriate person addressed it. Nothing to apologize for. That's how forums are supposed to work and it's great to see that they occasionally DO work that way! I didn't get any planes, but I picked up a discounted DX8. Love it so far!

    72" Extra 330SC

There are two redundant batteries feeding everything. The ignition is fed through an IBEF. I haven't put the prop and spinner on yet. I just have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be tail heavy. We'll see later tonight...

    3dhs 89 slick

Hmmm... I may steal that idea for my 72" Extra. It looks like it's going to come out tail heavy and there's room under the canopy.

    72" Extra 330SC

Here you go. A bit of a rats nest right now. I'm still working on tidying up the wiring. I went with dual batteries through two separate redundant circuits and a dual pole breaker to a battery buffer. Probably MASSIVE overkill, but that's what I have. My plan is to put the batteries right behind...

    Power switch hole patching?

Extreme Flight uses UltraCote as far as I know. Figure out what color it is and go to your hobby store (or your online store) and order a "trim sheet" in the same color. These are self adhesive and usually match perfectly. In fact, I just had a similar problem. I started cutting out a hole for...
