The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

All these work shop projects is making me jealous. So I decided I better add to them. LOL. I accomplished a couple of things tonight after work. First the baby Yak-ster's tail gear just seemed way too small for my liking. So off to my handy hidden away stock of goodies. I located another...

Terrific.... I think I have my bases covered now. All you guys have been a great help. (And inspiration) Definitely going to give splitting the 330 cowl. What is the worst that could happen? I mess it up and get hold of Tony for a new one. LOL

Dang, that sucks. But if this is all you have to deal with I would say it is still a pretty decent arf.

Thank you. This all makes perfect sense now. And duh!! I just remembered something. I don't have to worry about ruining a painted cowl because the 330 cowl is going to get repainted anyway. As long as I don't mess it up and cut crooked or something like that. I think I am going to give it a shot.

By the way gents, is there a specific saw to use for this procedure? I see there are a variety of sizes out there. I purchased some just before the Pitts build. But am thinking I may want a fresh brand new unused one for the 330 cowl should I choose to cut it in two.

Very nicely done. I am going to remember this and refer back to it. I "MAY" attempt a very large 330 cowl surgery to separate two halves that make a single whole. LOL

Seriously??? I'm afraid it would blind anyone that saw it flying with one of those "quiet" and "dull" schemes.

Oh hey... nice. I like that one. I need to add fellas, the scheme does "not" necessarily have to be a 330 scheme. It can be from any airframe. 300, 260, Edge, Sukhoi, Yak.... whatever. I should have made that clear. Sorry guys.

OH MY!!! Did I mention everyone is welcome to submit as many as you like? As long as there are no repeats by anyone else. That being said, Nicey done David. I actually looked at this blue/yellow/silver scheme months ago. The only thing I didn't like about it was the Yellow. Other than that, I...

Have you noticed the 330 seems like a bigger airframe all the way around for the same size as her counter parts. i.e., 300, 260.

Ok, now I have gone and done it. Y'all remember the back and forth debate revolving around the Pitts scheme? Ya, well I got to thinking..... And that is where I did it. Yup, went to the web and what do you know? TONS of 330SC photos. Now I am done for. So many to choose from. I know I said I...

Thanks Kelly, Yes the paint is very appealing. That is why I was wanting to do a covering scheme to match. Air brush? Are you mad....man? A mad man more like. LOL.... I barely got through the painting of the cowl on the Pitts. And now you want me to air brush? Ha.... Since the top of the...
