    60" Laser-EXP

    I used a dremmel sanding wheel to open up the elevator slot. I hooked it up to the servo and I am getting close to 80 degrees with a 1.5" arm. I should have mine done tomorrow. I ordered a bunch of batteries, but I only will have one by tomorrow so 6s 4000 zippy compact it is.

    That is why I am using the Spektrum 5060s on the tail. I am a little bummed about having to use a extension on the 7245s as I like to do a pig tail into the RX. I might just do a direct plug in then to keep the max torque I can. My experience with mini servos has been mostly bad.

    I will be building the 60" Laser at the event. The maiden will have to be there. I need to start the first one soon. In 10 days I will have to ship the equipment and Lipos to dad.

    I have a Falcon 20x7 CF. You are going to have to go CF I think. I know they are pricey, but they are better in every way. Smoke in bad is tuned pipes, kind of defeats the purpose tapping off the back pressure. If you want smoke, you need to use a canister or a pitts style that has the nipple.

    Last winter I got to fly in Tucson and I thought I had a lock out. That receiver went into the parts bin and I just got it out to use in a Ultrastick when I found out it was a bad RX. Just about to send it back to horizon.

    I am using 7955s which are not quiet that much overkill, but still more than this plane needs. Is there a place to mount the rudder servo in the tail? I would like to avoid the pull pull if I can.

    I ordered the Gecko as well. Picked up the 5060s today from the LHS. Assembly should start next week. I am going to use the Radio South hinges like I did on my gasser Edge and they won't be here till next week.

    I got a 16oz as well that I bought at FLI Jersey for this plane. Freight company is delivering it tomorrow now apparently. The Laser has to come first as I need to have some experience on assembling it before the next FLI.

    I did bevel the door to get what I currently have which is about 75 degrees. Eventually I will bevel the fuse side and get full travel, but the way I have it setup with wiring I only have to put the batteries in at the start of the day and otherwise the hatch is closed.     The one for FLI FSM arrived at dads. Hopefully the other one get delivered today and I am able to pick it up. Ordered up a Gecko ESC so that I can run the HV servos native at the lower weight of not using the BEC pro. Also ordered that last Xoar 16x7s I could find.

    I think I am going to try a pair of the Spektrum 5060s in my tail. I have a pair of 7245s left over from my 70 I just sold. They have the same spec'd transit time, so I hope they feel okay. Since I have some BEC pros laying around, I think I will use those and run them at 8V to start.

    My hatch blew open on the first flight and after the first day one of the hinges was toast. I replaced them with radio south pro hinges, but the door still only opens 70 degrees. It is on the list of to be modified.

    Those dubros are stupid heavy. 11.6 oz each! Just weighed it on my postal scale. The kavans are like 2oz each. Bats made a difference as well. It scared me the first day with it's stall. Much better now. Probably fly it some more tomorrow.
