    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

I just went back to Banggood and realized I made a mistake in ordering, the linear scales are a fixed length and can not be cut to size. I canceled the order and reordered the correct lengths along with the 2 axis display. The order now stands at $224 so the $500 installed option is looking...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

The DRO is very useful, I wish I had it on my lathe. For carriage work I will setup a 1" dial on the the tail stock and use it to move the carriage the desired amount like making parts like engine standoffs the same length. I see it is a $500 option. Decided to see what is available on...

Make sure it will go down to 1/32", zero is better. I'm old fashion I prefer a key. Get a Jacobs chuck, you will not be sorry.

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I would get a chuck for the tail stock if you don't have one and the live center. The four jaw chuck is nice but if you do plan to get a bigger machine I would wait. I think I used my face plate once in the past seven years or so. The 3 jaw chuck and the tail stock drill are used 98% of the...

How does the lathe work? Did you get all the tooling with it?

Did you tap the tube or just screw the axle in? Now when you get that lathe you can make yourself a set of drums and backing plates.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Kind of loss steam on this project over the holiday season. I have the rudder pull-pull completed and have a plan for the elevator control. The next step will be the wing lift struts, with all the talk about lathes and small parts decided to make the wing lift strut forks. The full scale are...

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

Disagree, a better bigger one will make all the small parts you need. It will cost you twice as much to tool both.

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

No mine did not, I used balsa sheeted cores with a carbon fiber arrow shaft spar. These were Monokoted and epoxied in place after the fuselage was painted. The original Byrofoam core and replacements are show below. The original design was removable allowing for some play. How are your finished?

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

The copper sheet was too thin for my liking so used .050" thick brass sheet. Got to use the Balsa USA Nicopress tool as well that I picked up at Toledo this past year. Once the rudder cable runs are finalized can finish up the elevator linkage
