Scale Need Balso USA 1/3 scale Super Cub engine choice info

A 3W 56 twin fits nicely inside the cowl, used KS ss tube to locate the exhaust in the scale location. I may get this one painted someday!

Went ahead and did the RF Buzz and No Click mods to the second main board. This went much smoother than first one, no rework required! Don't know if it will ever be used but I have a spare, with 64 model capability there's no need for another radio.

    Discussion Taranis Discussion Thread

I have been using the FrSky Taranis system since 2014, I was recently running version 1.52 firmware, they are on version 2.2.3 right now! A friend bought a radio back in 2014 and never used it, his kind wife was nice enough to give him a new Futaba 10 something or other for Christmas so he gave...

    FrSky AT-V1 Telemetry Install

Just got back from the flying field, used a custom function to read both T1 and T2 temperatures every 30 seconds, this was setup with an "and" function on switch SH so that it could be turned off while starting. Maximum temperture reached was 290f on the right side while temperatures were 230...

    FrSky AT-V1 Telemetry Install

I found this telemetry board at Aloft Hobbies for $34.50 which included two temperature sensors. It is plug and play with the FrSky smartport. The kit includes lugs for mounting the temperature sensors on CM-6 plugs, however I am installing this on a Valley View 40 twin with 1/4-32 plugs. A...

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

I build in my basement, it is cold in the summer and nice and warm in the winter. The main trunk of the HVAC is right above my work bench. Today I installed AT-V1 telemetry system in the Glasair, the cylinder head temps were 59f when it was powered up!

Why square tube? The full scale uses round tubing, I have used arrow shafts in the past. Got them for free at the local bow and arrow shop. The shop had a whole bucket of rejects, worked fine for me.

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

The Glasair made it to the Indiana Flyers Club 5th annual Summer Solstice fun fly today. Managed to get in there flights. Need to finish the dash and add the graphics. Doesn't like to slow down much and wheel landings are the norm. Does nice big loops and cuban eights, not much more but...

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

The initial balance check indicated that all radio gear and batteries needed to be installed ahead of the CG point. I made these fiberglass tubes to hold the two 2200 ma Lipo batteries in place so that the batteries could be removed from the side window for charging. A plug was made out of...

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

Finished buffing today and decided to put the wings on to see what it looks like. Glued the stabilizer halves on tonight. I have graphics on the way from AeroGraphics, the Glasair logo and N numbers for the tail. AeroGraphics is a great resource for scale builds. I/m hoping to have the plane...

Scratch resistance. The windows were already scratched, this kit is 30 years old, not sure how many owners there were along the way. When I bought the kit the windows were stuffed inside the fuselage, there was no box. I got the clear coat tip from Robert Godfrey many years ago.

    Scale Byron Glasair Build

Clear coated the windows this morning and spent the rest of the day sanding and buffing. Used a 7" buffer where I could on the fuselage and the buffing pads from a headlight restoration kit for the small stuff. Just might be done buffing tomorrow, one can only hope.
